Im curious though why they are so hard up on security ...i realise the prison is nearby but you give the impression they take that place very seriously. Maybe im seeing that map wrong - is it still connected to the main jail grounds per say ?

Everything shown in the aerial photo is now part of the correctional facility grounds and is owned by the state. The entirety of grounds are mowed and cared for, and the buildings are watched, even though they probably won't be used ever again. Their location makes them rather undesirable.

The Assistant to the Warden said "honestly, these buildings will probably be left to crumble. And while we like to accommodate to the public wherever we can, we're done with the tours now."

He'll probably see this thread at some point, so I'm not going to promote trespassing, invasion, or breaking in this place, which is a felony. They've got other things to concern themselves with.

Anyway, glad you all enjoy the set.

Very nice set, it's great to see a hospital that isn't thrashed by vandals. My family and I used to camp in Curtis every summer so I've been to Newberry several times and never knew this place was there.

I love the shots of the birds dead in the window pane. This place looks awesome, you're so lucky to have gotten to have seen it!

It's all foreign to me.
