I thought we should have a thread dedicated to H-D.
I know a thing or two about hogs. So feel free to use this thread for Qs N As or just to show off your ride.

hey welcome!

not too many takers yet

no pics of my first HD, garage built on a kit chopper frame with ext tubes w/sliders off a Sportster and a worn out 64 Panhead motor we never could figure out what all was wrong with it and I was an inexperienced kid used to working on dirt bikes

it was a disaster

not really my thing, but I share the like of twins ...just packaged a bit different.

and a stripped down, bare bones sporster would be cool for chill riding around.

I've got an old '65 Sporty shovel sittin' under my work bench, it's all ziptied together, I've been buying parts for it for years. Friend are always trying to talk me into selling it, I think of it as my sculpture, it looks great, pipes carb seat tank, like you could wheel it out and kick it over, but it would fall apart as you kicked it. Just like Jenga!

I proudly walked in to my local Harley shop, who's clientèle consists of the Hells Angels, Mongols, chosen few, and very rich wanna be lawers and doctors.

Upon walking up to the counter and proclaiming I was the proud owner of a '65 sporty, and wished to purchase parts for said motorbike.

I was promptly informed that, I am a homosexual, and am the owner of a bike that is fit only for girls to ride.

I am thankful that I didn't ride up on my 750 Virago, that used to belong to my grandma.

Now that's a different thing altogether, even in pink that ride would rock!

My distaste for sportsters comes from an indecent years ago.

I am sitting at a light on my hardtail shovel and this guy rolls up next to me.
He is on a brand spanking new sporty that I swear still had a tag hanging on it. He is wearing shorts, Velcro sneakers and a helmet that made him look like rolling mushroom. He then gives me the "Thumbs up".

I told him to "Get the Fuck away from me".

The cops in my city used to ride sportys in the '70's, God they sounded sweet. I remember that the sporty was the weapon of choice for all the younger bikers in the area, probably because of the price? But better performance was what they said was why they bought them. All I know is that I've been riding for forty years, and I've ridden mopeds, Honda step thrus, Harleys, Brit bikes, Jap bikes, Euro bikes, I don't think I've ever ridin a motorcycle that I didn't have a blast on. Stay safe.

Yep, theres a world full of Harley Haters out there some are just envious and others I think feel better about their lesser bikes by bashing the MoCo.

I dont disparage anyones choice in rides, theres a lot of "better bikes" and a lot of just plain old crap out there I wouldnt ride and look at all the metric stuff that has failed to get an identity since the early 80s, I mean some of that shits just horrible looking and riding.

Ive ridden quite a few different bikes in my life. Even a couple different 883 Sportsters which I thought were neat but my old Suzuki 750 would leave them in their own smoke.

Ive not ridden a Victory though. Some people swear by them but the new touring bike the Vision just looks too much like a space craft. I prefer the traditional air cooool look.

Yep water cooled ricers are faster, but someday there'll be an electric bike do 0-60 in 2.8 or something but would I buy one? I like my little hog I dont need to race anyone to prove something Id buy a busa or the new KZ14?? whatever if I wanted to go fast.

meanwhile back at the ranch Hell Bike and Bubba Biker exploring the 650 acre Rocky Ridge moto ranch

If HD made a 600-650 thumper for the dirt Id buy one but til then its a Honda (or if I hit the lotto maybe a KTM 525?)

Id definitely like a Ulysses those are pretty neat I think Id have to do something different to the exhaust system though and gain a bit more ground clearance
