I won't touch one now...I'm into something a little more esoteric.

I picked up a set of runes, along with a great book on them and I've been playing with those somewhat. I haven't quite got the knack of interpretation yet, but I'm getting there.

I refuse to touch another Ouija board. Not after NK.

Shael

Runes are a great form of divination. I have a set of tigers-eye elder futhark runes myself which I like to use the odd time. I am also pretty avid with divining rods.

If you really want to delve into the lore and history of the runes and their usage/meaning, I would recommend the book "Taking Up the Runes" from Diana L Paxson (it's REALLY good). Also, for a very good quick reference, there is this cute little book called "The Little Giant Encyclopedia of Runes" from Sirona Knight. I've sliced through a good many rune books and those two are the ones I find to be light years ahead of the rest.

Runes are quite comfortable to use and work great for casting protection and charms on items by making compound runes.

I have a bag of runes somewhere, must be with the tarot and spooky board somewhere in storage along with all the other useless shit like that.

I don't mean to piss on anyones parade and if you believe in that kinda thing all the more to you. On a personal basis I've discovered they are for the most part marketing gimicks to sell to people interested in things like that but really do very little.

Yes the spooky board has had some strange results which leads me to think that there may be something there but its like a broken tool that can only fit one type of bolt. Something is right with that in that it does get some results but the results are usually the wrong kind the user was looking for.

Tarot and runes are so open to interpretation that they just give you a warm fuzzy feeling or whatever you wanted to hear them say in the first place.

The few times I have seen some really cool yet ultimately strange stuff absolutely nothing like these items were being used.

When I was in college, my wife-to-be and some friends and I used one in my dorm room. We contacted a "spirit" who identified himself as a runner for the mob in the '30s who died when he drove off a bridge in a storm. When I asked for evidence of his "realness," a wind started blowing from the interior wall of my dorm room. My room was never drafty, and it stopped and started on command. To this day this is the only experience I've ever had that I believe to be paranormal.

I have some crazy ouija board stories.
My friend Alyssa and i made one and used it regularly getting some interesting voices and occurences.
One time i was camping in my back yard with her and my ex-boyfriend and we decided to use it and my ex Jon decided to take over as medium. He had just got a (gay) pentagram tattoo on his arm. The arm he was holding the Pendulum with. Things got interesting... Jon was trying to summon his dead uncle and the pendulum was going crazy. Jon started yelling and being wierd... (he was a wierd guy anyways but this was fucked up). and tension rose when i got up to leave and he didn't let me. At this point i was freaked out. But it was over as quickly as it started. Now I have to close my bedroom door at night or spirits will stand in my doorway and not move till dawn. If i shut the door they wait on the other side of it..

Bought an old handmade board at a yardsale many years ago. We used it at a party years ago, and it now resides with someone else. Very odd night that I feel like a pussy about it cause I won't go near the things. Been wanting too lately but still haven't.

I don't really wanna go into it now but that night a a buddies house ended with them moving less than a month later due to the shit storm some drunk people caused when fucking about with the board.

People wonder why I surround myself with silver and certain stones. Silver along with stones like topaz, hematite and bloodstone seem to help somewhat with the spirit issues. Some of the weirdness at work has stopped since I started wearing some of it to work.

People that know me well think I have a "black cloud" of bad luck and bad attitude around me. My coworkers, among others, would often comment on it, usually in a point and laugh kind of way. But over the past month or so, things have really seemed to turn around.

Since the mess with NK, I don't go anywhere without a piece of silver or stone on me, usually. Whether it be a ring, necklace, bracelet or earrings, there's something in it that seems to offer some semblance of protection. Most of it mass produced, but the metal is what seemed to help some, not a lot, but some.

Sure, it's hokey and strange and I probably sound like a freak, but since then, most of my jewelry is silver or stones that are "protective". Like topaz, bloodstone and hematite. Crystals don't do jack shit from my past experiences.

Lately I've noticed a big difference in the way things are going in my life since acquiring a few new pieces, two handmade items from a shop in England specifically. Neither of their forms hold any occult significance, but both are solid sterling silver. I only bought them because I liked them, not because of what they were made from. I like silver to begin with anyway, but these were just two really nice pieces for the right price.

The machined, mass produced stuff doesn't work as well, from what I've seen in the past, but handmade items seem to do something, I don't know what, but something. It seems like things just turned around suddenly and for no reason at all since I got the first piece and after getting the second a few days ago, things just snapped back into place.

I can't exactly trace the "black cloud" back to NK or the board, but I think it had something to do with it and the silver and topaz seemed to help the most.

Maybe silver or something else might help you ward off your spirits victoria-? Certainly can't hurt to try.

Sure, laugh. But I'm dead serious.

Since the silver thing, I got my job back, I got the union gig and most of my money problems have cleared up and I'm not walking around like I wanna kill somebody all the time.

Most of it started with the ring I showed you the last time I saw you, I finally received the bracelet I ordered this week from the same place, and suddenly my working relationship with my coworkers has gotten a hell of a lot better.

So, how would you explain it?

Not that he's told me. He has...other beliefs.

And you're welcome victoria-.

Good sterling silver is also reasonably inexpensive. The most expensive piece I own cost around 200 dollars, the cheapest is a simple silver chain which cost around 20 dollars. Just take care of it and it'll last damn near forever. Hand worked is best though and it can be anything you like or that means something to you. It's the metal that counts.

Also, two big things about taking care of it. One, everything that I wear a lot gets a baking soda and boiling water bath once a week in a cup lined with tin foil that's shiny side up, that keeps the tarnish away and seems to help preserve the metal. It'll also show you whether or not your pieces are the real thing. Electroplated silver won't stand up to it, the real thing will and will come out looking really nice. Two, never, ever, ever under any circumstances store your pieces in synthetic velvet. There are chemicals in it that can and will destroy your pieces over a relatively short period of time and cause them to turn black extremely quickly.

You're welcome.

Also, for long term storage, plastic baggies work great, like the little ones you get with single earrings. Those are wonderful for that.

Also, don't lend your pieces. If you're using them for protection or spiritual purposes anyway. Some people find that storing them in natural fibers helps a lot with the cleanliness of the "power". I've never found that helpful, but others do.

Silver is the metal of the white or pure. So it should help drive out anything evil.

Interesting. Maybe I should give it a try or is it just for females?

I've had a pretty weird time at the building I'm working at now since I started there. The weirdest was when my hard hat flew out of the closet like someone threw it out and rolled across the floor. And no, there was no one in the closet. Also, I've had a couple of residents start harassing me and tried to get me removed. Their attacks are the worst I've ever encountered in the time I've been working as a guard. Other crap was happening but I'm not in any mood to really discuss it at this time.

To the mods: My apologies if I've gone off topic.

Works for anyone. Give it a shot. Just make sure it's real silver.

I think they are jokes. I dont believe any story I have ever heard. Besides, if it there was some sorta of actual evidence they are evil, Im pretty sure Parker Brothers would stop making them and Toys R Us would stop selling them. But they are toys. They cant do anything evil.

While I do believe in the supernatural, I think ouija boards aren't. It's more your subconscious causing you to push the piece around rather than some supernatural force.

Old thread, but an interesting one. Crazy stories Shael and interesting about the silver too!

I can't say I've had any real spooky experiences with one but I don't like them at all. There was an old farm house I explored earlier this year and there was some holy water down on the mantle downstairs that was pretty neat. I take my time exploring but the two others I was with are pretty quick, so I whipped through a few areas of the house. Post explore that eve I was texting with someone about the house and she asked if I'd seen the ouija board in the closet. Having the two of those things together in the house just creeped me out.
