Orbs made an ass of me.

I was wondering on getting a few answers/opinion's about a experience I had as a kid. I was at cabin in northwestern Alberta Canada and went outside before bed to go take a piss. As I was pissing a whole bunch of golf ball sized orbs just started to fly all around me and I freaked out. I ended running back to the cabin with my pants down peeing. The orbs disappeared as I got back to the cabin, my uncles said what the hell happened to you! I was white as ghost and still peeing during the whole incident. I said a coyote chased me at the time because I thought I would be made fun of by all my cousins and what not. There was no lights at all outside where I was, only the moonlight. The cabin was built in a recreational lake area where it was most a decade old. Years later it still is in the back of my mind what the heck happened?

Awesome story. At least you didn't get slimed by Ectoplasm

Seriously, this is fascinating and difficult or impossible to make sense of.

Snow? Seed fuzzies? Had you not eaten in while? I know if I go without eating too long I start to see white spot things.

I just ate supper an hour before the incident and there was no wind/seeds in the air. The speed these things zipped about is what freaked me out. I'm wondering if this was some kind of "prankster" ghost.

Here's something that seems similar.

BC - Port Alberni - Stamp Falls - Location of many suicides and drownings, as rapids and cliffs are very dangerous. Between midnight and five a.m. if you park in the parking lot that overlooks the cliff sides you will witness thousands of orbs shooting across the cliffs and into the woods. Local Indians claim the area is burial ground. Sometimes the orbs have been known to almost attack for no reason.

Agreed. I used to be a ghost hunter and I would never ever take into account any orbs that were ever caught. I also was the one who what to disprove everything.

Did you lose your license? How many orbs did you catch before this happened? Couldn't you just command them to be still so you could count them? The time stamp on your post seems early for alcohol usage, but heh, no judgement...

Could you what to disprove the Internets if someone asked you nicely, or gave you a quarter?

Sorry for the typo i was using my iPod and it auto corrects the wrong way. As for the rest of your nonsense orbs aren't real. There are too many other things they could be instead of ghost. And I quit doing it because the group I was in brought in a "psychic" to help with the cases. And I don believe in psychics. But I do belied in ghost and I have seen and experienced things I can't explain.

The argument I always make is "OK, you have these weird spots of light in your pictures. What makes them supernatural?" That shuts them up pretty quick. Just because you can't explain something doesn't make it supernatural.

I also always liked to ask how do you know it wasn't dust or bugs or light reflecting? Orbs are stupid to me.

I shouldn't have layed it on so thick, sorry. Agreed it's best (and idiotic not to) try to disprove orbs and things we can't explain. So much can be disproved, but it's the weird stuff that is hard or impossible for even experts to disprove that keeps the possibility of paranormal activity alive. Likely most orbs are dust or water drops. I've heard some electricians can 'see' electrical energy, after working in the business for a long time. Read that somewhere, probably on the internet...

I agree with your statement above.

Which is perfectly fine, I just have a problem with the tremendous leap from unknown to supernatural. If there weren't things we didn't know, there'd be no reason for science.

Agreed here too. It's just that with all the books and personal accounts of people seeing 'people' that then (for example) walk through their cars without injury, then disappear, well, not all these people who have this happen are flakes.

Many instances of salt of the earth regular folks who don't spend time thinking about ghosts, then... they are one day lucky enough to experience something. That brings on a change and likely acceptance of something unknown, possibly paranormal.

Here's some examples in this book. Maybe not all true, maybe some embellished, but I've heard and read enough, even had a couple of minor experiences, that leave me no doubt ghosts exist.

Non believers, that's their right, but it's pointless to try to convince believers ghosts don't exist. I eat meat. If someone tells me this is bad, and I should stop, they are trying too hard to push their beliefs, or discredit mine.

Same idea. Any fanatic on any subject has probably moved too far from reality to keep any credit or self respect. I understand how some people think ghost hunters/believers are nutters, (and for good reason, some are). But there are serious ones, who enjoy the hobby and are having good experiences sometimes.

Hard to believe, but some people actually think people who go into stinky slimy dusty abandoned buildings are weird

Pardon rant.

A bit of Googling will open this whole book, direct link didn't work.

The first place I ever explored was an abandoned hospital. I was standing next to my ex and watched a good bit of her hair get picked up and it was pointing straight up, then get dropped. At an abandoned dam/power station I felt like I was being followed/chased through the underground tunnels. So much so that I started running to catch up to the other guy down there with me. As soon I was with him i turned around and nothing was there. Now for the record that is all that I ever experienced, one or two others things may have been paranormal but not sure. I went on dozens of investigations and that's all that happened to me.

Whether or not I believe ghosts exist is irrelevant. What does the evidence say? Extraordinary claims require extraordinary evidence. Yeah, this misty shape like look vaguely person-like, but what evidence is there that its supernatural? That's how I look at it.

This reminds me of a memory my ex-wife told me from her youth.

Uri Geller came to town and had a very publicised performance on national TV. She watched it with her whole family, maybe aged 6. At some point, he asked the audience to find an object in their home that had stopped working and bring it to the TV. At that point, she said every appliance in the house started going nuts, ringing, spinning out of control, etc. I asked older family members about it, and they did not remember this part of the performance. Conclusion: distant memories are unreliable, especially the younger you are.

While I understand what your getting at Steed, its also thought by some younger children havn't closed their minds yet to the point that they take everything in. I remember when my daughter was an infant we would hear her laughing and reaching out to something in the corner that neither I or her mother could see. But she sure as hell seemed to think something was there. I wonder as we get older if we don't simply block out things that would upset our perception of reality?

My two year old son does this too. Just last night he went to the hall and pointed towards the bedroom and said, "Who that? Who that? WHO THAT!?!?!?!?" I got up and looked down and said "no one." to which he replied, "there! (and pointed) dirty. who that?" and then he walked away from the hall. how weird is that?

this is the second time he has done this since we moved. he also says Ghost. but i love the ghostbusters and we have watched the movies and played the game together so he knows what a ghost is.

Simple solution: I'm a rocket scientist, and I really suck at my job. I'll just spew out a couple kids, and give them my scientific papers. They've got a better shot than I do at getting it right, don't they?
