Mystery Shoe?

I thought I would post this here to spare myself the ridicule but I wanted to share anyway. Last night my niece woke me up because she found this shoe in her closet. My house was built in the 20's and I've lived here for almost three years. Her room and the closet sat completely empty until she moved in. None of us had ever seen it before, including my aunt's family who once lived here as well. My niece has been using that closet for four months then found it in clear view.

So yeah, creepy shoe appears out of nowhere. WTF? I've tried to look online to find out what era it may have come from, but I've yet to find the same shoe

That's pretty creepy. I have always found single shoes laying about while exploring, I find it strange.

Me thinks you have a ghost!

Creepy for sure, can't figure for the life of me where it came from. The only times we really notice anything out of the ordinary here is around Christmas time, then it seems to go away.

I moved into a house that is 108 years old, which is pretty damn old considering the area.

All the lamps in my house tend to turn on and off all the time. It's really become a problem lately, due to the fact that it keeps burning up all my bulbs.

My dogs often watch things moving about in my house that I can't see.

Never had "this" kind of problem before moving here, so maybe it all comes with the territory, new house, new haunt!

I for one welcome our new paranormal overlords.

It looks like '70s-era. Is there a brand name on it anywhere?

Interesting, any idea who it could be?

@Splumer and Jeepdave~
It's definitely a child's shoe (quite small),and made entirely of leather. The sole is that thick crepe rubber stuff. There is no brand name on it,yet it has some numbers stamped inside. I'm told one is the postal code for an area in Maine and the second was a code for the colour lot or whatever of purple. The third number is aside and says 64. It's designed like a girl's shoe yet blue like a boy's,still trying to find a similar one online.

If it's a ZIP code, then the earliest it could be is 1963, when the code was introduced. Having grown up in the '70s, I can attest we wore some funky shit back then.

Actually, when I moved in my neighbor across the street had gotten real friendly with me for the first couple of months, letting me use his riding mower (Large property) and the likes. Anyway, he ended up committing suicide after about 2 months. He was an indian (I live in Oklahoma) and after he died his family had what I can guess was a Shaman come to the house and clear the spirit(s) from the property. He even asked if there was suspicious activities going on lately, and when I told him about my house he walked around my fence line with his big stick and incense and "cleared my property"

True story, nothing really has happened since then, which I don't find a coincidence. However, my house was already pretty creepy even before old man Palmer shot himself. Perhaps the shaman built a perimeter around my house to keep the spirits away.

Things that make you go hmmmm

edit

mispelled Mr Palmers name, don't want to do him wrong like that!

Fascinating, and a lot of dust on that funky shoe. If there was a very high shelf in the closet, and if you lived in an earthquake prone area, then it could be considered that it fell from a high shelf. Of course you probably checked any high shelves when you moved in. And I don't believe earthquakes are an issue where you are.

Do you ever let anyone in the house when you are not home, or any quirky people or friends when you are? Someone with an odd sense of humor, 'going to use the bathroom' could have planted it. I prefer a paranormal explanation though.

It's a child's shoe, most likely? a girls. And activity around Christmas, hmm. Somebody wants to be friends with your niece... Please try it on her foot, and let us know how close is the fit

I believe this could be a possible explanation:

King Jalopy, that's a pretty interesting story! Rest In Peace Mr Palmer!

Thanks for the link A.Lien,interesting!
We're definitely not prone to earthquakes and such that I know of,though I'm planning on taking a closer look at the closet tomorrow, just to see if there indeed is a spot where I may have missed it. I'm sure I didn't though, and neither did the rest of my family when we moved here (we 'explored' every inch of the house, having moved into to it sight unseen beforehand). There were also two distinct fingerprints in the dust on it when it was found. My niece (sixteen and too old to fit into the shoe) carried it down to me by the tongue, she was quite disturbed to find it. Our bathroom is on the main floor and though I can't guarantee the room was locked at the time,it usually is.

Though it wasn't being used,I painted that room shortly after moving here because it's tiny and looked incredibly depressing before. Walls half painted purple/primer and black, and a subfloor with years of paint splatters on it. It looks much better now though and I had planned on using it for something or other but never did for over two years, something felt not right in there.

Anyway,I'm beginning to think that this snazzy little shoe's appearance may very well have nothing to do with my house after all. But rather,my daughter's house across the road. Incidentally her house is also owned by my aunt. That's another story though and I'll continue it in a new post.

My eldest daughter,20 years old, moved into a house across the street last October. My aunt and uncle had purchased it as an investment, then it sat empty for well over a year for renovations.

Shortly after moving in her and her boyfriend told me about feeling watched, footsteps, doors opening and closing, etc. She will also feel overwhelmingly sad for no reason, then the feeling disappears as quickly as it came. They found half of a twenty dollar bill in a top cupboard in their kitchen, long after my daughter and I had scrubbed the entire cupboards when they moved in. They later found two five dollar bills in the same spot, underneath their crackers. Then a power bill disappeared out of their bill basket, reappearing right on top of it two weeks later.

Now I know I'm going to sound crazy here, but it's the truth. Usually upon entering a house or whatever,I can sometimes sense if there's anything 'there' or not. Often I can even see who it is if I try hard enough. I've even had friends and family members have me come and check out prospective houses for them for that reason. As for their house,I vaguely felt something watching but had no idea who or what,I couldn't see or hear any indication of who.

That changed last Saturday night,I'll try to keep this short. I was visiting over there with a few other people. My daughter was talking with her boyfriend's mother and sister about the activity in the house while I was talking to someone else. No sooner did I clue into what they were saying when I 'saw' a man standing with his back to me.

He has thin hair parted on the side, glasses,a tan casual jacket and dark pants. He looks to be maybe from the 60's era, interestingly enough. He slowly turned to me a bit and I guessed him to be maybe late thirties, early forties. I asked him (not aloud) who he is and he said "I'm Norman,I'M NORMAN!"

He indicated that the house is his and his mother's and he 'took his life' in it. I called my daughter to the bathroom to tell her about him and I when I said his estimated age,he said "I'M 34!" He seems like he may have been a bit slow or something, and he often repeated himself. I didn't ask anymore questions but he proceeded to tell me his Dad had died, and the money found was 'where we kept our money'. He also showed me a glimpse of his room, which would have been upstairs and was decorated rather childlike. There's a bit more he said but this is getting way too long, kudos if you read this far.

Anyway, the next day I ventured down to my daughter's basement with her, which I had seen once before momentarily, back when my aunt bought the house. Distinctly carved on a wallboard down there is the intials N.R.M.
That same night, groovy mystery shoe turns up in the closet here. Coincidence?

Amazing stories Wiccan. I wonder if the found bills were current, or older from when he would have lived there. Either way, a ghost leaving money is a good thing!
All the best with your investigations and discoveries. He must feel okay with you and your family and friends, so he's investigating who is in 'his' house, and trying to connect. Thanks for sharing your intriguing stories.

My pleasure! The money they found were modern bills,I told them to ask him to leave hundred dollar bills instead. ;)

I've been working afternoons lately but we intend to do some digging to see what else we can find out about him.

Cheers!

Thanks for asking Chrissy!

We have indeed found out quite a bit more, and I'm thinking that the shoe is definitely a part of what's happening at my daughter's house.

After quite a bit of digging we were able to find out that 'Norman' Miller is alive and well. It was actually his brother Brian that passed away in the early 60's,my boss at work went to school with him. We have since found writing on the basement wall at her place from Brian, with a date of 1950 some-odd with it. Brian died of kidney failure (same as my brother actually) in the early 1960's and he was apparently quite the social misfit. His brother who is still living was known as a real bully and Brian was often a target of Norman and his friends. I'm told that brian was a big fan of anything having to do with the Air Force, hence the planes he had dispalyed in his room (he 'showed' me what his room had looked like, upstairs in the house).

Once we found out that his name was Brian and started calling him that, the activity at the house has slowed right down. Things still go missing at times but they reappear again quicker. At the time when there was so much going on there, brian seemed to be trying to indicate a number of clues about him so as for the shoe,I believe it may have been his.

It's interesting about the name thing. My youngest daughter when she was little had a young boy named Mikey that she communicated with,he eventually said he'd died by 'fire'. Long story there but it turned out that the boy was actually a ten year old named Keith Allison, who was shot by his brother in the 70's. Mikey was the name of one of his brothers.

Wow, isn't it funny the ways that they try and communicate things.
I have lived in a few haunted houses, and have seen a few "weird" things but never to that extent. The most - in the way of objects moving - was one house where she (an old lady) would move things like the can opener etc. It would disappear and then turn up in a drawer in the bathroom, or somewhere equally strange.

I love hearing about other people's experiences. It must be exciting to be able to research things and find actual facts about your extra houseguest
