Share your recipes for camp cooking or even your faves from right at home!

I'll start with this one, made it the other night. It's Alpine Rabbit Stew and it's delicious. Cooking it makes your place smell incredible and it has bacon in it..nuff said!

and the dish almost done..

One of my favorite backcountry meals is a simple Mac 'n cheese + tuna + carrots (or some other misc vegetable). The mac n cheese would have to be velveeta, or something else that doesn't require milk. But hell, I've ended up eating that at home too

I think some pine branches fell in your stew.

But seriously, I usually just find some weird Asian noodle thing at the grocery store, get a pouch of chicken to kick it up a notch, and leave it at that. I cook plenty at home. When I'm on the trail I like to relax.

I would never make this while camping! Camping, I tend to always have steak and potatoes the first night, then stuff like kd, stew in a can, hotdogs, soup for the remaining nights..and I always bring snacks like gorp and all the fixings for S'mores! I usually cook over the fire, even in bad weather, but when I can't, I use a Trangia stove.

Well, I did make crawfish etouffe while backpacking once. I had a can of shrimp I was going to use, but the crawfish were big and plentiful, so I used them instead.

If I brought a steak with me, there is no doubt in my mind it would rain and I would have no way to cook it. Next time I go, though, I think I want to get a package of that pre-cooked bacon...

Chicken Pot Pie

Here's an easy meal that is great for when you are at base camp.

Ingredients:
2 - fully cooked chicken breasts
2 - cans cream of chicken soup
2 - cans mixed vegetables
1 - box Pillsbury pie crusts

Hardware:
1 - 12" Dutch Oven

Procedure:
- chop up the chicken breasts into bite sized pieces
- drain vegetables
- mix together the chicken, cream of chicken soup, and mixed vegetables

- place 10 briquettes under oven, 12 on the lid
- place 1 pie crust in the bottom of the oven
- pre-cook the crust for about 15 minutes until it starts to get firm
- pour chicken mixture into the oven
- place remaining pie crust on the top of the chicken mixture
- bake for approximately 1 hour until the top crust is golden brown

I run a camp cooking discussion forum so I have a lot of great recipes. I don't know if it's OK to post the name of the website so I'll not do so until I am told otherwise.

Sounds good! There was a show on RFD-TV dedicated to Dutch oven cooking. I've never seen a full episode of the show, only a few excerpts on The Soup.
