Hello!
You can call me infiltr8. I am from the Sacramento area, and am excited to have found this site. From a child, to this day, I have been infatuated with abandoned buildings, and places. I never actually knew other people did this as a hobby until a few months ago.
I have hit a few places over the years including Mare Island(going back very soon), Mather AFB (when it first closed),a few odd places on road trips and some barns and buildings in rural Finland. I started Photographing them last year as a record of the places, and to sharpen my photography skills.
My earliest place I can recall was in the mid-eighties on the Sacramento delta with my parents. It was a strange, small house that covered a small island. It had a small landing beach, but no real land. The oddest thing was all the windows had bars on them, but on the inside. It had a loft area that was occupied by some rather large owls. I hope to find it someday if it has not been demolished
Enough of my ramblings. I really hope to be able to meet some of you and learn everything I can. My wife wants nothing to do with my exploring, so hopefully I will find others to explore with. Thanks!

Hi, I'm new to the forum, but not so new to urbanex.

I live in Toronto/GTA, and I've been urban exploring for not too long (maybe a year, a little more). Only recently have I gotten a camera, and I hope to post some pictures of recent exploration (Abandoned Harley Davidson Dealership on Front Street and Abandoned Hydro Plant on Commissioner)

The main reason I signed up to the forum is becuase all my friends are too chicken to urbanex and there are a lot of places that I want to go to or have gone to alone that I'd want to bring other people with because I'm not the best with access or have passed a place really late at night and wanted to go back but had no one to go back with.

I hope I've done this right and not broken any rules.

Cheers
-Bebe

Hello,
DAT510 here, or Carlos.

I have also been interested in abandoned buildings for as long as I remember.
My current hobbies are Cars, Photography, Hiking/Camping, and to be honest anything relating to firearms. lol.
I will begin by saying that History is very interesting to me, and seeing abandoned buildings once full of life with memoirs of the 50's for example is very exciting.
I'm going to join the USMC very soon, and well any militarized buildings or property is very interesting to me aswell. Too bad you can't go on some Military property with out committing a federal offense.

I'm in the Bay Area, CA, more specifically east bay.
I have stumbled amongst some abandoned buildings, but they are now inhabited.
Suffice to say, walking into a abandoned warehouse was quite a feeling, and now that I'm beginning to do some automotive photography, some venues like a warehouse would be perfect.

Which leads me into my main goal and why I joined this forum, I want to find somewhere where I can take some great pictures with my car, (Which reminds me, all of you Central Californians get ready for the SOLAR ECLIPSE!!) And to do some photography.

From what I understand, Locations are kept quiet... so I'm not sure how to get to known places.
Finally, I will leave you with some pictures I took, all unedited.

Hi, I'm Star and I'm from Australia.

I'm mobility impaired so these days my urban exploration is limited to reading blogs online. Living vicariously through other sites, I guess. I have visited a handful of sites in the US a few years ago, and quite a few more in outback South Australia many more years ago. Old, abandoned, unusual, unique, haunted, associated with folk tales - I love it all. Happy to be here!

For most of my life I've lived upstate and have explored some locations around the Buffalo and Albany areas. I moved to NYC in October and am hoping to meet up with some groups for UE and scout out some new spots in my neighborhood

Welcome to my hometown!

As far as groups go, we don't really seem to have those in NYC. It's mainly just a long list of contacts that you build up over time and then you choose one or two people from that list to call up for an excursion.

Hey everyone!

I'm a fellow from Calgary AB Canada, and (as I'm sure is true for many folks) had done many urbex type things throughout my life before I learned that "urban exploration" was both a term and a phenomenon. Some examples are minor & easy rooftopping, visiting of abandoned structures (from farm houses to an abandoned prison farm), and a 290 KM freight train ride across the Rocky Mountains. Sadly, I didn't own a camera at the times of the above, so no pictures :( (but I swear it happened!! :) ) I also enjoy hiking, scrambling & camping, and had the great adventure of hitchhiking across most of Canada a few times (twice in winter), living outside a lot and having great experiences. I also enjoy reading, gaming, cats, and photography. Probably half of the draw of urbex for me at this point in my life is the unique and amazing photo ops it provides. I LOVE shots with natural light (even - maybe especially - in low light conditions; my gorillapod is a good friend!)

I am definitely a fan and advocate of the safe/responsible urbex guidelines promoted here, and do NOT support the damaging or disturbing of locations in any way (including damage to access, tagging, taking of souvenirs, etc.) Whether it's the top of a building, an outfall or storm drain tunnel, or a 500 year old church, I think that all should be treated with the same respect as a glade full of rare plants & animal habitats in a natural area. To do something that will affect the perception of every person to visit a site after them is.. well... tragic. As well, observing discretion in terms of locations and entry points makes tremendous sense; I love having a site shared with me as much as anyone, but to never have to find one on my own would take away an essential element of exploring. Not to mention the fact that when sites are visited too often (and without care and caution), they denigrate and disappear :( To be clear, I do not judge anyone's values or exploring style, but wanted to share mine :)

Recently, I have begun exploring the drains in my home city of Calgary (pics posted in the regional forum), and have some structure climbing/rooftopping expeditions planned. Hooray for the site (and others like it) and would love to connect with any like minded explorers in the Calgary area!

Hi All! My name is Jason. I just moved from Topeka Kansas to Tulsa Oklahoma. I learned about UER while watching a movie on Netflix. My previous city only had two locations in the database and not a lot of activity in my area so I didn't join the site, but I have been reading the posts for a couple years now. I have been exploring since I was old enough to leave the house on my own. UER is a wonderful resource of information that other places just don't have. My favorite explores are places so old or remote that the internet doesn't even know about it. I have already posted a few pictures and plan to post many more. Feel free to check them out and thanks for having me!

I own you, don't I?

Hi, I'm Kristen. I am the fiance of "Joel". After exploring with him for years he has convinced me to finally have my own account. I'm excited to truly become part of this community. Lately I have gotten into draining, it's pretty fun. I cannot wait to check out some buildings soon here in Texas.
