I was attending my bro-in-laws wedding in Sept and wound up talking to a good friend of the family about tripping etc. When I mentioned I was looking to buy a used boat from the outfitter I rent through he mentioned that he had a couple boats I might be interested in. He had a red one, abs I believe, which weighed a lot and a cedar strip that I was instantly interested in. I asked the price and he said...."FREE"! The best word ever...all I had to do was go pick her up.
Long story short, he ended up bringing the canoe from his cottage in to the city and I grabbed it the other day and brought her home. She needs a bit of work..take off the fiberglass, sand her a bit and then reseal her and she should be good to go.
She's about 15' in length and 2'10" wide and weighs about 40 pounds so decently light. She was made by hand in Trout Creek, Ontario by Ross Ellery. He passed away back in 96 if I recall right but made some awesome boats. Trying to find out a year on it..
Here's a couple shots!
