Too bad I found this place too late I guess. Would've made the trek up and down worth it if I got access.

Nice to see that you could still get THAT far though. There must have been a record number of rescues in the gorge this past summer. I suspected that authorities would seal the tunnel off permanently... maybe with cinder blocks. Then again, it isn't like everybody that goes down into the gorge is going for the sake of exploring this tunnel.

Interesting how the left-hand bar has been cut clean through though.

Yea.. I can see the number or rescues there and there maybe a good possibility of one when I was there. I brought rubber boots and clip on spikes. As I was ascending I saw 2 kids slipping and slidding to head to the general direction at the trail below. Needless to say if I wasn't equipped it would've either been a rescue or a long long trek around. By the time I was on the top side and heading back to the car. I could see those 2 were having a hard time navigating it and both got dunked with wet feet.
So I hope they take the right recourse and take the long way back up.

Yea.. I noticed that as well with the clean cut on the gate. But it looks like failed attempt or they have skinnier people then me.

Ahahahaha... BC. I don't even want to think of an excuse as to why I would carry that around. Too much innuendo.

It's a dead end, not too far from where you can't see. Just an old valve in the end wall, that's it. The tunnel with the waterfall coming out used to be totally open as well; I can't count how many times I've went thru that one & climbed up & out the other end. You just had to be lucky that they didn't open the floodgates while you were in there. LOL

I used to live in the area & frequented that spot often. Did acid there once, in the early 90s, even. Goodtymes! And I'm good friends with one of the original people to start the whole restoration of the old mills & area, too. Good guy.

Nice Anison. Would've been quite an experience if the other wasn't all bricked in. I guess I was too late by what I read a year now

There was another thread about this place a few years ago, and someone posted pics all the way to the end of that tunnel. I know I posted in it, but I can't find it in my post history. Must be ancient. lol

Anyway, here's 2 point+click pics I snapped sometime in the ancient past, most likely while inebriated, of that same place:

haha Yeah, going thru there was always a lot of fun. The water treatment plant is up there, and sometimes the water flow would suddenly increase by quite a bit, so you always had to be on guard. We used to climb right up the waterfall you can see there.

It's a cool place in the winter, too - the ice formations around the main waterfall can be pretty sweet during a good cold spell. You can normally go right around behind it. I only advise against walking on the ice mound that sometimes forms at the base - while it may look more or less solid, sometimes there will be only a thin crust of ice covering a dozen or so feet of slush. Not a pleasant death, and it does happen...

Surprised the UER No POES police haven't showed up yet -

Heres a silly question but was the gate locked? Before you nod this off - we've all done it.

Either way looks like a sweet location.

It was slush when I was there and took 2 steps onto the bank and realized it was way too slippery for my liking and I didn't want to worry about the camera sliding down into the drink. Noticed it slides into a pool with no real edge to try and catch footing. I seen pics of people ice climbing there though. Thats crazy.

I didn't know no POE police was a rule. sorry.. guessing they allowing it since I"m new for this time?

well I didn't shove the gate hard, just gave it a pull and push. ( the 2 rings are welded together and I see a few plate welded on the side that the door would swing open from ) After I got back to the topside I thought maybe I should've put more effort into it. But at the time I didn't want to force/squeeze my way in since I went solo and didnt' want to chance a rescue call if I couldn't squeeze back out. Maybe I will try again when I go back to try some winter waterfall pic.
