I found this site on google a little over a year (?) ago, and signed up. I've really just lurked around reading other posts and looking at photos this whole time.. but I'll be sharing more now, that I see this site is super legit.

I got into urban exploring when I saw some pictures of the insides of some of the abandoned places around where I live that I had noticed, but not thought about very much. I found this site through Google when I was looking for information on how to explore drains safely. I very quickly realized how much more there is here and then got sucked into it.

Google search for local abandoned places. In not much of a forum person but after noting so many folks from my area, I joined. I wanted to meet local explorers!

I've been checking out this site for years. Never really gave it much thought about joining before. I absolutely love checking out everyone’s submitted pictures, from the professional to the amateur, and the stories behind them. Great site, my tops for urban exploration.

I found it through following links starting with the Wikipedia page on MIT hacks. Eventually I heard about urban exploring and realizing that I had already done some, went looking for a community. I don't generally do any photography on trips which is why I am only just now joining the community.

I googled urban satanists exploring abandoned forum and this came up. So now would you become my brothers in pride and would you show me an abandoned building that badly needs to be painted with blood of a goat?

I was looking for information about the infamous "History Channel" San Francisco bunker on Google, and this lead me to an archived thread about that bunker closure.
... and unfortunately I still can't get that bunker open, but I tried :p

I stumbled upon the website whilst searching google for a sort of location database for my area - the UER location database fit the bill!

After looking farther into the website, I decided to join and now am happily aspiring to earn a full membership.

A few years back somebody I posted with on another forum made a thread about urban exploration, and was posting photos from this site. The photos were of course interesting and I asked where she was getting them from, so showed me one of the photo threads here. Been lurking since, admiring everybody's photos lol.

A spur-of-the-moment explore a few months ago had me obsessing over finding new locations and trying to learn more about UE as a whole. A simple web search for "UE forums" led me here. Since then, I have seen graffiti at some locations directly addressing UER, so I would have ended up Googling it anyway

I was on reddit, reading /r/nosleep which is fictional horror stories (well, mostly fictional). It's a creative writing outlet that I really enjoy. One of the stories I read was about /r/urbanexploration. I do it sometimes, I'm fascinated by the abandoned and creepy stuff so of course I went to explore the subreddit. This website was linked in that subreddit so of course my curiosity was piqued AGAIN. And now I'm here.

My first exposure to Urban Exploration was this past summer. Some college friends were all psyched about these tunnels that were under UCLA. One night we decided to check them out. After 10 minutes of running through the tunnels, I was immediately hooked.

While I didn't know it was actually called urban exploration; or even a thing that people did regularly, I just kind of started exploring stuff on the regular. Among my first few explorations were the bottom of an active tram station at a ski resort, mechanical rooms of a hotel, and market in the process of being demo'd.

It wasn't until I read a mini spotlight in Psychology Today about urban exploration that I realized that this was an actual thing. A thing that encompassed so much more than just some tunnels and mechanical rooms.
