Hi. I'm a noob, I've been exploring the threads, and I saw this word pop up a few times. Except for being involved with apartment roofs, I have no idea what this is. Any hints/tips would be appreciated (because I'm interested, of course.)

means different things to different people but my definition is finding a way to get on the roof of a building that's off limits either by virtue of being vacant or active with no public access

Rooftopping is going on roofs. Does that answer the question or was there something more specific you wanted to know?

I've gathered as much, I was wondering how the process went. For instance, I live in an apartment building. I would like to reach the roof, but the doors are locked. I assumed in a similar fashion that all highrises locked the roof, so that's essentially my question, which demonstrates my novice-ness I suppose- are some roofs just left unlocked? Do you just... go up to the top?

Some are entirely unlocked, others near impossible to get on, most however, have some light security and that's it.

Every roof can be done, nd where i'm from 99.99% of roofs are locked. If you want help with your apartment block take a photo of the door that gives you roof access and upload it here or send it to me via DM.

Rooftops are one of my favorite parts of any location.

As said before, most rooftops are lightly secured. But there's nothing like trying to wrestle a roof hatch open while standing on top of a ladder a little over a story tall that slants at an angle in pitch blackness.

Prohobo in training.

not a bad question we all take some heat on UER for asking questions, but you kind of answered yourself, its the finding the way to get on the roof that's fun for a lot of us, Hell theres all sorts of buildings with observation decks any tourist is welcome to access

get the book Access All Areas by Ninjalicious, I recommend this for all Rookies, you will get the idea Im sure

one thing Ive found, locked doors aren't always locked keep checking it you never know when the maintenance dude or the satellite TV tech will leave it unlocked

Figure out why you want to do it first. I used to think its cool. After exploring legit roofs for the sake of going on the roof and the view, roof topping fairly short buildings became pointless to me.

OMG look, I roof topped. The top is open to the sky. If you go into a parking structure you'll be in the company of cars rather than AC units but you have generous view of all the sides and you have many different levels to get different perspectives from.

Then, I went to a taller place and it looks like this out the window. Gives you a good idea of how you'd look from something taller.

I like even pretty short rooftopping (5 stories or so), but higher is always more fun.
