Crawling along a ditch is akin to wearing full camo gear in the middle of the city, way over-thought and you just end up looking ridiculous and more suspicious.

Hey, no worries - it's usually a good idea to ask for advice if you're not sure what to do.

I think there is only one thing to take into consideration- security

If the site has some sort of security ie not completely abandoned and forsaken, I would opt for an army crawl across the field when its a dark as possible with the least traffic possible. However, if the site is completely abandoned and noone cares, just stroll up with your camera and tripod like you own the place. I say this because sometimes you can't exactly stroll up to a security guarded site. Or, if you are really feeling it, buy a ghillie suit. Wear it, crawl across the field or a crouched run and take it off once you get to the entrance.

Those who say they can, and those who say they can't are both usually right.
