Which POE to chose?
< on 3/3/2017 1:47 PM >

Posted on Forum: UER Forum
I was scouting out this abandoned building today (not going to mention location). Since I am new to this so i dont know which to chose.

The gate is noticeably busier, this would require some luck not to be spotted, but looks easy to climb
1.

The window is more secluded, but how can i get up there and I have no way to see whats on the other side
2.

Do any of you fellow urban explorers have any suggestions?

Edit: I have no idea why the photos are rotated, they looked fine on my computer before i uploaded them.

Chose the POE that you want to take...

What are you trying to accomplish? If it's just getting in go the way that's easiest and you feel is less risky.

Are the windows locked? Is there a visible POE just beyond the fence? Are there any other objects you can use nearby to climb on? Just because you can get in are you sure you can get out the same way? These and 1000 other questions are ones you have to ask yourself. There is no "right answer" when it comes to gaining entry.

Personally I find fences the easiest of all things to get around. There's a great tutorial here on the subject. Since you're new I suggest you give it a look:

Just want to go in and take pictures and enjoy the environment.

The building is abandoned and should not have any guards.

If you look closely enough the window on the furthest left is broken (easier to see IRL) so it should be climbable if i can get up there. With the window chances I will have at least 2 minutes before I am likely to be seen. With the fence I would say 30 seconds would be pushing it.

Google maps has a better photo of the gate and from my scouting trip it should be easy to enter the building after getting past the fence.

Is there any information that i can add to so that better advise can be given?

You're new here so let me explain. We are not about to tell you to how to gain entry into a specific location. You are clearly committing a crime and nobody here is going to be an accessory to your actions and asking them to do so in a public forum is naïve and frankly rude. This forum is about sharing experiences and general advice about the hobby. It's not a "how to" manual on breaking and entering.

My questions to you were rhetorical designed to get you to think for yourself. If you want in, find a way in. If you cant or are unwilling to take the risk then wait for a POE to open up.

I was being nice by responding to you because I suspect that this thread would get zero helpful replies from other users and more than likely you would be flamed to the point of total humiliation.

My suggestion is that the mod's either lock this thread or make it private.

We discourage discussions about lock picking and shimming padlocks while not specifically prohibited its not a good idea to post about it and we don't need that kind of heat.

Personally I would just use an angle grinder with a 4" carbide disc. Rechargeable angle grinder.

Barring that I might use my heavy tow chain attached to the frame hooks on my 4WD truck to yank open a p.o.e. its faster. There hows that?

p.s. don't snag your nut sack trying to climb over those spikes
