Waders if you don't want to get wet.

I see you're in Allen, since that's near DFW I will assume you mean there somewhere. I wrote an article a few years ago on draining in Texas.

Gimme a minute and I will see if I can find it an link here. It should leave you without many questions and if you do have some, feel free to ask.

The thread is here

I realize I wrote it for Houston, but I personally know all of this can apply to DFW.

In the winter, you need waders for high water, sure.

But in the warm months, I wear Converse high-tops all day and all night. (But I try to find them used, because they only last a year and they're silly-expensive for what they are.)

It's just easier.

I always found converse like suction onto my feet. Is that not an issue for you? Every time I wore thin cloth type of shoes I felt miserable. My favorite are either my Nike running shoes or my Bates boots.

I've never found them uncomfortable.

What I like about them compared to a bigger shoe is how quickly they'll dry out afterward and there isn't a lot of padding to embrace the drain funk.

Wool socks/undergarments.
Hypothermia and immersion foot can happen at temps of 70 or so and under from prolonged exposure.
Wool insulates even when wet.
