Abandoned Church #11 of 20 < on 9/18/2017 6:53 PM > | Reply with Quote
This year my exploring partner and I have been paying very close attention to and putting in a great deal of time researching abandoned churches, or churches that are simply no longer used and barely maintained. It's really incredible how many there are out there.
In the last few months alone we have discovered and photographed about 15 of them, on top of the 5 I visited earlier in the year, that's 20 churches peppered all over the province that are just sitting there, collecting dust, decay and animal feces.
This one is probably the best discovery of them all, our minds were blown when we entered and saw the conditions inside.
Here's a video and a bunch of shots from one of my favourite discoveries of the summer...

Kabbalah is an undramatic tradition that requires great patience and stability. One of the reasons for this tempo is that everyone has to mature his potential gradually and thoroughly at his natural pace. In this way his life's work unfolds at the right moment in his own and the cosmos's time. Z.B.S. Halevi -- Kabbalah

Wow. It has the 'perfect' amount of scattered objects, and is at that exact border of chaos and order. Amazing space, and rural...which is nuts given the size. Cool photos --

Roughly when was it built? Why are so many abandoned there, any ideas? Urban blight is to blame many times here in the US. The people moved away.
There was something on the wall dating back to the late 1800's, then a fire claimed that building and they built this one.

Yes, it let in some nice light! If you look behind the altar you will see there were two more windows that were covered up

Absolutely, just enough stuff moved around whether by animals or non destructive kids. It's such a relief to see a place like this without all the mess, juvenile graffiti etc.
