Elevator Keys

I don't know if I should be posting this or how many people are aware of it but here goes. I tend to do a lot of infiltration since abandoned buildings are very limited in Ottawa, and there was a height restriction (about 120m) until recently. This means that roof topping in itself is not that exciting after the first 5 roofs so I tend to focus on the infiltration aspect. I recently ordered some keys for ThyssenKrupp and Otis from this website: https://www.ultimatesecuritydevices.com/ and they shipped them without asking questions or requiring identification. The only thing they will require ID for are the fire keys although they are essentially useless if you want to fly under the radar. Could anybody else with useful resources of the sort post them down below?

Thanks.

If I'm not meant to be posting B&E tools on here, please let me know and I'll remove this post.

But these are keys to bypass elevator security, not get in the shaft and die a horrible death.

Sparrows has a beautiful fire service elevator key set (I think it was around $70) and I've tried it in few non-monitored elevators and it worked for me on all occasions. Not sure if that's what you are looking for.

The only thing those keys will get you is trouble if the elevators are being monitored.

If you switch the newer elevators to Independent mode that gets reported to the central controller or even right to a maintenance tech or security phone and If the elevator is equipped with an RFID reader turning the Independent switch will also not override it on the newer elevators anymore.

Remember.... All newer elevators can be remotely controlled so keep that in mind before they lock you in an elevator until the police arrive.

Yup, that's definitely something to look out for. It's never happened to me and I'll make sure it doesn't. I've seen security rooms before and they do have panels showing the status of every elevator but, generally, you can predict if such a system is in place. If you're trying to get in to just an average office building with no security desk, you're probably fine, but most buildings in Ottawa are at least partly government and I'm sure hotels have similar setups so using elevator keys is sketchy at best.

That was true even 30 years ago.

When I was in college, I worked as a security guard and as a prank, when another guard was doing rounds in a building, we would lock lock them in stairwells and/or elevators.

I got burned once with that and got out through a fire escape and tripped the fire alarm in the process. Before we could even get through to the fire dispatcher, fire trucks were arriving at the building. After that, I made myself a superuser on the building management server and basically gave myself full-authority override capability. Problem solved.

I would think the elevator roof escape hatch is not locked and still present on most modern elevators.

Actually most hatches anymore from my knowledge and discussion with people within the industry are locked from the outside. That or they are made to be highly inaccessible. Largely due to the fact people are more likely to get injured attempting a self rescue than waiting for the appropriate authorities. So unfortunately that is not an option.

Most of the elevators I've seen don't even have a visible escape hatch. Based on my observations most modern elevators have a false ceiling that would need to be forcibly torn out in order to access the hatch. There's no way to do that and remain discreet or avoid vandalizing the elevator.
