Hello,

My name is Kat, I live in the GTA area of Ontario, and I am in my 30s. My main passion in life is photography. I’ve been interested in urban exploring for years but I just recently started exploring places about 4 months ago. I love exploring and photographing these forgotten spaces. I also enjoy looking into the history of these places, if any is available. I am also a huge cat lover.
Cheers!

Hi all, my name is Ryan, but I go by tublo in the urbex community. I'm from Minneapolis, MN and I typically explore the underground but also love dabbling in the arts of bandos. I've been exploring for a few years now but am just getting into the online aspect of UE. This forum is new to me, but at least for the MSP UE, my insta is @tublo.msp

But I'd love to start off my experience here by describing my favorite (and least favorite) UE experiences.

Fav: This one actually just happened last night. So me and little_horns decided to check out the Minneapolis riverfront. Coming in to the day, I had a few leads that I had never pursued, so I decided to finally explore them.

And what came next is something that I could never seen coming

So near a certain Minneapolis landmark, which has a considerable amount of arches, we dipped our into the tailraces of the ruins of the mills that had once dotted the Minneapolis riverbank. And after sinking to nearly my knee in mud and under the disapproving stare of the ducks sitting near the outfall to the river, we entered the world of the past. Rotting boards suspended above the water combined with rusting utilities hanging from the ceiling made for a difficult, yet rewarding hike through the now abandoned remnants of Minnesotan industry. All was well until the boards ran out and only option was to turn back or brave the stagnant water below. Although, a quick survey of the depth of the tailrace told us that the rest of our venture would be more suited for a raft ride than a hike. Feeling slightly defeated, we turned back. About halfway through, I had noticed a crevice in the rock that was wide enough for us to crawl through. Crawling for a good hundred or so feet provided us with one of the most rewarding experience of my career. We had just entered what appeared to be an abandoned sanitary outflow for the old mill district. In this tunnel, we could see the foundations of the mills of yesterday. A piece of history that I had not even seen on historic maps of the location.

This discovery wasn't even the most climatic part of our trip though. Leaving the tailraces, we crossed the aforementioned arched landmark to our next spot. And this was one of those spots that I had only found by walking around with a group one day. Crossing piles of rebar placed by disgruntled city employees we continued through the tunnels to where we had reached a bricked off end to our tunnel. However, taking a short break in the tunnel to catch our breath yielded our chance. A slight breeze through a small hole dug near the wall had air flowing into it and a slight mechanical hum.

Negative pressure. We had entered a building.

Crawling through the utility tunnel of a steam plant near the river had me scared shitless. The chance of getting caught was high, but our curiosity had gotten the best of us. A literal light at the end of the tunnel showed us the basement of the active plant. We decided to head the other way to avoid detection. Hunched over, walking briskly through the tunnel to see where it ended up gave me the biggest scare of my UE career besides my run in with the occult at triple helix west (another post, another story). We froze in our tracks.

Footsteps. Dead ahead.

We turned off our lamps, using the dim light of the basement behind us to navigate the maze of pipes and make our escape. I never looked back, but the sound of a voice in the distance gave me the motivation to pick up our pace. Clambering over the rebar, and scouting the exit of the tunnel had yielded no dangers, so we left the tunnel, climbing the bluffs of the Mississippi up to street level. Once we had reached the level of normal society, we looked at each other and laughed. An encounter with city workers and the discovery of a seemingly untouched tunnel gave me the best day of my UE life. Walking past a family clad in suits while we were covered head to toe in sand gave me the satisfaction of being in a place where these people could never even imagine.

Anyways, I'm tublo, thanks for coming to my TED Talk.

Hi,

I am from Northern Illinois, from the far NW burbs of Chicago. I have always had a fascination with the creepy old abandoned places, especially ones that have a story behind them. When I was a kid in the 80's my Mom used to drive down back roads looking for old structures to check out. Farm houses, dilapidated bridges, graveyards, storm cellars etc. We lived in a 80+ year old rental house for 5 years before discovering a hidden room behind a wall (that my mom ripped out) that was full of really old toys and a bed. This was before the internet and computers though and we never found out the story behind it. I saw that movie "disappointments room" and now I wonder... what if?

My Mom definitely started my obsession with these things. However until a week ago, I had no idea it was called urban exploring. I always said " Hey, lets go look at old creepy shit".

I am taking a road trip with a friend in July to see "creepy old shit" and while I was looking around for places to go, I discovered this website and that some of my interests are called "urb/ex'ing".

So here I am =)

Hopefully I can contribute some quality material while I wait patiently to see if I can meet the qualifications to be a full member after 3 months.

If you are in my area and want to meet to share some trade secrets or places, let me know. We are two female explorers and are cautious at first.

Thanks!

Whenever I hear of stuff like this I think of an awful (comically awful!!) made-for-TV movie from the early 1970's, "Bad Ronald". It's about a kid who lives in a secret room his Mom secured after he kills a neighborhood girl. Then Mom dies, and he continues living there hidden from the new home owners. Creepy AF.

Welcome to UER!

hi

My name is Glacier, I'm 22 and I'm from Ohio. I don't have much experience exploring abandoned buildings but I have a lot of experience with climbing. Currently I'm looking to do more roofs. It's quite hard as well, I present as a female so it makes being solo a little more scary, nothing too bad though as I travel by bike. Just means I have to dress more masculine, I've found. But I'm looking for others to join me

I think my mom got me into urbex from a very early age(and she doesnt even know it), we would go on nights walks and I remember always thinking about the places you could explore at night and stuff to climb. So as i got older i climbed alot and broke a lot of bones lol, but alot of experience is better than none. During middle school I was hanging out my schools window when my mom pulled up to drop some stuff off for me and she didnt seem to be mad lol, just laughed at me

I'd say my first time being caught exploring was rather... holy. I was 17, with my siblings and we had found a pool at a catholic school, and we thought why not go for a free swim? Well we swam for 20 minutes or so and then I saw a man look at us through a window and then he came out and yelled at us. I have never ran so fast in my life, it was really fun.

Aside from urbex I'm a college drop out that hates feeling tied down. I have over 5 cats and I love art. I watch too much anime and sometimes I sleep waaay too much

Hi Everyone,

My name is Adam and I've always enjoyed the outdoors. Hiking off the beaten path is my favorite way of exploring. You never know what you're going to come across, it's thrilling to find something cool out in the middle of nowhere! Other than exploring, I'm also into technology and electronic music.
I live in the Philadelphia suburbs and often vacation near the Poconos where I'm always looking to find new places to explore. I have a few good finds, hopefully they are not already posted here so I'm able to contribute. Looking forward to becoming a part of the community.
Here are a few pictures of my journeys from last year.

Hi, I'm Wren. I'm a 27 year-old living in the LA area.

I have a tiny little bit of experience with urban exploration via a place I explored whilst overseas in Japan, but otherwise I'm pretty new to the whole thing. I've always had a fascination with abandoned places and old ruins and have been wanting to get out there and do more exploring, but it's the sort of thing that I find a little too unnerving to do alone, let alone without any prior knowledge or much experience

Nice to meet y'all!

Hi everyone! My name is Clint and I am a California native. While I'm not by any means new to urbex, I am new to the forum. I'm looking forward to interacting with everyone, picking up new tips and continuing to discover new and interesting locations as part of the larger ue community. Happy exploring!

Hi fellow explores! My name is Lauren and I'm a 20 year old female collage student. I'm currently living in Lubbock majoring in English at Texas Tech University. My minor is creative writing and my concentration is in secondary education. One day, I am hoping to teach English in Japan. My interests include anime, music, Comicons, urban exploration, video games, reading, movies, television shows, and Japanese and Asian festivals.

Favorite anime: Attack on Titan, Naruto, Black Butler, One Punch Man.

Favorite bands: Nine Inch Nails, Korn, Evanesance, Seether, Bjork.

Favorite movies/tv shows: Lord of the Rings, Star Wars, Harry Potter, X Files, American Horror Story.

My experience with urban exploration has been very limited. I have only visited one site. For several years now, I have watched popular urban explorers such as ExploringwithJosh, TheProperPeople, and Dark Exploration Films on Youtube. However, recently I have wanted to explore these places myself. Even though I have barely any experience, I am hoping to explore and document what I find in these places.

I am looking forward to meeting everyone on here. If you share similar interests and would like to chat with me, feel free to leave a message. Would love to talk with you.

Hello! My name is Kara and I've been exploring for over a few years now. Been interested for a lot longer, I remember being 8 and seeing abandoned buildings on the side of the road and telling myself one day I'd stop and go explore them. I've been lurking here for quite awhile and decided to finally bite the bullet and make an account! I can't wait to hear everyone's stories.

Every time I travel I tend to stop at new places. I've even gone on a trip just for urban exploring. But there are a handful of favorites that I love to visit and hold very dear to my heart just around here (coastal VA). Plus I love meeting new people to go exploring with so if anyone is interested feel free to send me a message.

Hey everyone! I'm Chris, a university student from New Brunswick, Canada. I love history and climbing, and I guess that's what's drawn me to this community. There aren't many urbex locations I know of near me so I mostly explore outdoors, but I'm hoping to find some more in this community. I look forward to exploring with all of you!

Hello,
3 days of reading and re-reading the rules complete. According to the Regional UE map I am located in the Great Lakes area. I first learned about Urban Exploration after going down a YouTube rabbit hole and finding various explorer’s videos. I’m mostly interested in photographing interesting locations. I’ve never gone out exploring but I intend to change that this year. I look forward to digging through some of the old posts on here and talking with people that share a common interest.

Have fun,
Clangus

Hi everyone! I'm Arie and I'm from the Pittsburgh area. My friend from got me into urbex and I've been hooked since, we try to explore as much as we can when he's in my area, and I'm likely going to branch out to solo voyages although it makes me nervous.
I'm perfectly satisfied just seeing cool, old, unfamiliar stuff, but I'm most interested in seeing the decay of industry and finding people who have a similar disdain for modern life.
I'm pretty new to this stuff so I don't know many good spots. There's one I've got on my radar, though, and hopefully I'll return with some good pics.

Hey everyone, I'm Pepsi, a pre-med student in the GTA of Ontario, Canada. My experience is pretty limited even though I've been interested in urbanex for a while now. I just haven't been able to find a willing and capable group to explore with, and I'm hoping that I'll be able find one in this community.
