Queen Mary

I know, I know, the Queen Mary is notoriously haunted, but just hear me out…

When I was around 10, my family and I went to the Queen Mary to see what was there. I was early October, and they were running a “ghost tour” of the ship, taking people deep into the bowels of the ship, telling stories about what went on there.

Just thinking about this makes my spine tingle and eyes water. So anyway, I remember we went through the upper deck areas, where people have supposedly died. The guide was really good at his spiel, and I was shaking in my little tennies. We made our way to the indoor pool area, which is pretty deep inside the ship. The guide stops us for a bit, telling everyone about how a lady had died there somehow (I don’t remember how) I look at the deep end of the pool (which, by the way, was empty), with the diving boards and see a lady standing there wearing a circa 1920’s black and white stripped bathing suit. As I watched, she hopped soundlessly several times on the board, and jumped into the pool with a splashing sound. I think nothing of it at the time, chalking it up as an interesting effect (image projected on clear plastic screen maybe?). The rest of the tour went without much other incident, except for (and I just got the chills) the feeling of wrongness and sadness of the place. This feeling started at the pool, and wouldn’t leave me till we got to the car.

Once we get home and are discussing the trip, I comment on the cool effect they had in the pool area. They asked me where I saw it, and I told them where. They looked at me strangely and told me that there was nothing there. I asked for an explanation of the splash I heard, and they told me that they didn’t hear anything. As we’re talking back and forth, I look at my brother and his face is bone white. I ask if he saw anything, and he just nodded his head…

There’s a couple more things I’ve seen/felt/heard/smelled, I’ll post more later.

Cheers!

I've been there a few times, and I have to say I'm not surprised. I've never gone on the ghost tour (though I would like to one of these days), but even so I've have felt/seen things on that ship. nothing like someone/thing jump into a pool (BTW I thought they kept that drained?), but enough to give me a chill nonetheless.

you experienced the "imprint" of a event locked in time there. When a spirit is locked in time to the earth plane, the modern world has no bearing on what that spirit is doing. to her, it's still the time she lives in, say the 1930's. We may be "what the? when we hear the splash and wonder how that is possible with no water in it, but they don't know that.

If you really want to be creeped out, swing down to the engine room. That is usually the bloodiest and deadliest place to be on a ship when you are a stoker until they started putting in other more automated equipment. My mom has been down in it alot and always has experiences there.

I heard they even saw wet footprints on the pool's deck even though everything was bone dry. And yes, the feet were bare.

I have to go there and check out the ship!

I went on the haunted tour. It was entertaining but laughable. They take you to the pool room and talk about ghosts and 'vortexes' and then start a smoke and light show that isn't even well concealed when not in operation and play it off as real.

At one point I asked the tour guide what a 'vortex' is and how they determined that it existed. I think I pissed her off because she could even answer in a manner that made any sense what so ever.

If you want some real ghost insight on that place, talk to some of the non tour guide staff. My girlfriend and I started talking to one of the guys that worked there and he took us around to different parts of the ship that were not on the tour and told us about his own experiences which were much more believable just from that fact that they were his.
