Odd images in unused spaces

I recently got permission to check out the basement of an old four story building, and the empty upper floors. There is a business on the main street level.

I've taken dozens of photos of 'orbs', and mostly believe they are the usual dust caught by the flash, or water drops, humidity that sort of thing. The other ones have all been kind of textured, and semi transparent.

This double orb, in the closed off basement stairwell photo, is different. I'm mean that's got to be one big ass piece of dust! I think it's got more energy than dust.

The other photo from the top floor is quite puzzling. There were no lines in the mirror when I took the photo. There's some weird energy, or something going on. I want to go back, take more photos, and see if the lines are there again in the new photos.

Years ago the building was a funeral parlor, so maybe there is a higher amount of spirit energy in the building than usual. If anyone has any ideas about what those lines could be, would be great to hear.

Could be streaks on the mirror. They are kind of hard to see sometimes unless the light is just right. Perhaps scratches on the glass - lots of ways that could happen in an abandoned place too.

These are the first non-supernatural things I could think of. You probably should check out that angle first, before deciding it was something spooky. Of course, if after you do all the leg work you still can't identify it, you might have something there.

I'd have to agree about the mirror. It just doesn't seem to me to be something striking. You can always say "those lines weren't there when I took the picture," but all others will hear is "I didn't SEE those lines when I took the picture."

As for the double orb, it is an interesting photo. I have a hard time saying any orb pictures are more than dust because they're so common, but yours does seem to be emitting its own energy, which is something to think about. But at the end of the day, it's an orb. Orbs just don't prove much to anyone.

Sorry, but I've definitely got to debunk both of those images.

The mirror scratches are definitely basically polarization. The camera lens does not pick up light and reflections the way your eye does and by using a normal polarizing filter, those scratches would be eliminated. Look closely at the mirror next time. Those scratches are there.

That orb is also definitely still just dust or moisture. It may be an abnormally large speck of dust, but it's just closer to the lens than the majority of orbs. Or it's a water droplet on the lens.

There's more paranormal energy coming from my left shoe.

Thanks for your comments. I asked to return, and was told not for two weeks. The first thing will be to study that mirror with a magnifying glass for scratches, (my Dad suggested the same thing), and the blown out window where the patterns seem to form an X shape.

Then I'll take a bunch of photos, from about the same angle, and at about the same time of day. Who knows, hopefully something interesting and unexplainable will appear.

I wish! That's the thing about orbs, they mostly seem to show up only on digital camera images. (Electromagnetic energy?) I read something recently, where someone suggested using a stereo camera to take photos where orbs might appear. A very good idea, because this would give some clues to how far the orb is from the camera.

Well, they'll show up on film the same way. You'll never see an orb of the same magnificence with the naked eye since the dust/water particles are so small and the orb is just the flare from the reflection.

There are so many other ways someone could approach paranormal investigation. Why does everyone rely on orbs? Any freshman photography student can explain what every "orb" actually is.

I don't know whether I believe in ghosts or not, and I'm not condemning anyone for believing in ghosts, but everyone is so eager to see ghosts everywhere.

Not to mention that you're not being objective about this whatsoever. I don't think "hopefully I'll find something unexplainable" is a healthy attitude to take when investigating the paranormal. All you're going to do is make it more likely you'll interpret the perfectly natural as supernatural.

I don't know whether I believe in ghosts or whatnot, but I don't think either of these things are them.

Myself,I have seen orbs with my 'naked eye'.I lived in a house where in the living room and upper hallway, there would on occasion be one that would sometimes spin, and sometimes just float randomly around the ceiling and walls.

Ruling out any other light or reflection source it was rather fascinating, the house having had other activity as well.

I don't know anything about cameras and such so I can't really say what's in your pictures,A.Lien, but to me it does look similar to the type that I saw.

It is said that orbs are a type of spiritual energy, and quite common due to the theory that it takes much more energy for apparitions to fully materialize.
