I have never been lost, but I will admit to being confused for several weeks.

So this isnt exactly a hoppin area is it?

I just explored your abandoned area and took pictures. Wait that might sound wrong....

Ok enough poking things with a stick.

I read a article that said that magnetic recorders work better than digital for capturing EVP. Does anyone have an opinion on this?

I have both digital and magnetic (analog) recorders and was wondering if anyone has had better luck with one or the other. I dont know since Im not exactly an avid ghost hunter. I just tend to run into strange stuff while exploring or out doing photo work. The reason Im asking is that Im going to be in the UK for a few weeks very soon and many of the places Im going to be shooting at are supposed to be haunted. I thought it would be interesting to try to catch some EVPs and such while going about my other work.

I would appreciate any tips or tricks anyone would be willing to give that are more experienced in matters like this.

I have very little experience, but it seems to me that digital would be much better. Magnetic tends to produce a 'hiss' sound. It's hard enough to filter out noises without the machine making it's own.

I've read a great deal about EVP and from what I have gathered, it's either going to work frighteningly well or leave you with hours and hours of nothing.

If the EVP does legitimately work, then it is kind of a confirmation to a theory that I have been a proponent of.

Magnetic tapes may give interesting results though... it's been theorized that spirits cause fluctuations or abundances of electro magnetic fields. It's possible that the magnetic tapes could respond to those.

They probably do but it depends on the frequency and the presence/absence of background noise.

After three weeks in England and recording with both digital and magnetic I got a whole lot of nothing.

Oh well I figure I will keep trying when out exploring sometimes.

I use a digital recorder and have gotten some very clear and interesting results. I'm not sure if the recording medium is all that important, and if anything digital recording won't be as subject to outside interference. I think that they manage to get in the recordings by manipulating the magnetic field, which causes reactions in the voice coil of the recorder. Basically as long as you have a a decent mic on the recorder you can get results. The reason i think that it depends on the mic more than the recording medium is that you can get results with a remote mic where the phenomenon are occurring in a completely different room than the recorder. This is just based on my experience anyways, feel free to chime in.

EVP sessions take alot of patience but I've had good results on a number of occasions. I do enjoy reviewing them for the first time though, suspenseful.

Are you trying to bring a dead thread back to life? I had no idea you were interested in ghost stuff TC but I would like to hear what EVP's you have and the stories behind them. Same goes for anyone else who has gotten some EVP's that haven't been put all over the net.
