Importing VOB filres in Adobe Premiere 2.0

Hi fellow geeks

So yeah, I'd like to import VOB files into Premiere 2.0, but I can't since the format isnt supporter.

I also tried to rename the .VOB to .MPG, yet it doesnt work (say the file is corrupt)

So anyone know a way to either import the VOB or to convert it to AVI (Free) so I can edit it in première ?

THANKS!

Isn't a .vob file a part of the VLC application? Try that app and convert to .mp4 for video. VLC works with alot of odd file extensions and is free to download.

I use that at work, its good but it's got limitations like almost all converting software.

Try Mpeg Streamclip, it made by Squared 5

http://www.squared5.com/

This is really good with VOB files.

Also, you might want to look into Sorenson Squeeze & Compressor for other type of conversions.

good luck

agreed, compressor is probably the best bet, but is kind of inaccesible unless you are a video production person, which would mean that you wouldn't be recording VOB files in the first place.

Nah...that's exactly what I do and I still have to use those damn files all the time.

That Mpeg Stream clip program is a life saver. I use it literally every day and I don't know what I would do with out.

God bless you Squared 5

I was unaware that vob is the standard for anything other than cell phone video cameras. Its what I do as well, i've never run into them. ah well, its beyond the point of the post

Its the video file format (muxed and encoded after burning) of every DVD you have ever watched. When you pop a DVD in your computer and rip it, you have to convert the VOB files to some other type of open media format, QT, MPEG, AVI, DV, ect...

Oh well, geek stuff, yadda, yadda....

If the file not compatible with Premiere 2.0, try using MP4-H264 as output, do not use MPEG4. You can refer to this article here:http://www.vi...ps/vob-to-mp4.html

Somebody in this thread discuss a similar problem as yours as you can see from:https://forum...et/thread/3/857081
A guy says that you should copy the VOBs to HD, change their name from *.VOB to *.MPG. Import the MPGs in Premiere and render. You will then have editable AVIs on the timeline and you may export them to disk as AVIs.
