These microphones rock. Just got a pair: http://www.soundpr....cgi?item=SP-TFB-2

And why exactly do they rock?
|
|
because they work incredibly well if you're trying to record natural sources for surround sound video instillations.

Would these be good for say open air recordings out of building windows or in train stations perhaps? I've been looking for something that can pick up ambient noise for a couple projects I have in mind.

it would be perfect for ambient noise, which is what I mainly do, or for picking up conversations discreetly, or for anything really. Since its omnidirectional anything you hear it will pick up. Its mainly used with minidisc

Good to know. I'll have to check it out then. I love recording in big train stations like Grand Central or 30th Street in Philly. So many interesting noises that come about from all the traffic that goes through them.

yeah definitely. I'm gonna use them to record inside Atlas F missile site# 10 in roswell, nm

These look really impressive. They remind me of some of the tests Don and Carolyn Davis did in the 70's. I am sure most of you audio buffs are familiar with Syn Aud Con, but if not, here is a link to their website. http://www.synaudcon.com/

well if your budget is not so strict, I suggest going with a portable multi track with phantom power xlr... you could then use what ever mics you wish... neumans would be sweet if anyone could afford even the cheapest one!
