I was a happy go lucky horny teenager. spent my last two years trying to sleep with every girl in the girl. did well in school, though i never tried. i worked a lot, been working since i was 14. my best friends and were raging kleptomaniacs and would steal shit constantly from all the stores near us. ended up getting arrested at best buy for it. really got into UEing then and would go to an abandoned car shop and try to get into an abandoned church. hated my town and got a job for the government and moved to CA shortly after graduation.

i did listen to a lot of nu metal...which in retrospect is pretty messed up...and i wore JNCO jeans.

To alter a Mitch bit. "I used to masturbate. I still do, but I used to too."

I was awesome, well adjusted, and super happy LOL. Ok in reality I actually wore a whoooole lotta black, I drank, smoked, I was moody for whatever reason I had that week. In grade 9 I was the girl with the bangs and the boobs. I lost the bangs, kept the boobs . I was friends with everyone from the popular group to the skaters/punks, and that was awesome. I was extremely shy back then, that I've improved a lil bit and just need time to warm up.

I was a very quiet, withdrawn kid. Picked on and beat up at primary school (grades 1 to 7) because I was quiet and would rather read and draw.
My mother remarried when I was 11 ish - my stepfather was not a pleasant man, and ended up doing 4 years 2 years non-parole for what he did to me.
I left home at 17, came out of my shell a little bit. Never smoked or did drugs, but all my friends did. I used to cry at the drop of a hat and felt immense guilt over the smallest things.

I like to think I am a happy grown up now, would die for my kids, still take too much crap from people and seem to be a weirdo magnet, but hey, not all weirdo's are bad, right?

I basically fell through some cracks in the system, bounced around a bunch of fuck up schools (12 grades, 12 different schools) and was the crazy guy in my punk rock circle of friends. I wore a jacket that weighed 30 pounds, easy, and had a collar made of cat fur. After spending the bulk of high school in places with prison guards for teachers and kids that couldn't spell "book" I graduated from a public school with all AP classes and high honors.

I didn't party as much as my friends, never did drugs, but drank like a fish. Then I was with a girl that cut some chick's boob off and stopped drinking. We didn't have sex for about the first year we dated, which wasn't how I operated back then. I got into sideshow and fell in with an older crowd. And that's why I have zero social skills.

Isn't it sad how many kids fall through the cracks, their parents seem to be oblivious to whatever is happening to them. Or they know but don't know how to deal so they ignore it.
Personally, I have to know everything that is going on in my kids worlds. I refuse to let anything slide, and even take their father to task for the way he talks to them. I refuse to become an apathetic parent

Yes, it is messed up how some parents, well, aren't. I slipped through the cracks in a real bad way. I was too high functioning for the retard schools and too anti-social for public. Not to mention all the underhanded stuff the school district did while my mom sued them on behalf of my little sister. She was hit by a car at age 5 in front of me and still has a lot of brain damage because of it. The school district wouldn't comply with federal mandates for her education so my mom sued. Between that and being a single parent I didn't get much guidance from her. None the less, I had a bed and food so I'm not complaining, that's more than what a lot of people get.

I'm still trying to figure out how I got to where I am today and where to go from here.

Personally I could try and figure out what happened to me, why, and how it changed/shaped me as a person until it drove me crazy. I just accept it now.
I went through the self hating, trying to commit suicide stage, so angry, so ashamed, feeling so unworthy. But now I just accept it. And for me that helps alot.
Can't be changed, no point rehashing it and hating myself and everyone who didn't notice what was happening. I like me now, still don't know what I want to do with my life, can't accept the fact that I am 35, still feel like I did when I was 19-20. Life is all about living and learning. Just remember to have fun along the way, and try not to hold on too much to the things that hurt you.
Be proud of being you

As normal as a latchkey upbringing in New England could be I guess. Parents stayed married although they hardly saw each other.. Spend most of the time alone, or with sitter.Didn't get laid until 16, and then the floodgates opened and I went on a tear for about 2 yrs.

Spent many nights on the computer playing stupid games (zork, tree of mana for you Commodore 64 fans), or exploring abandonment s - was a pseudo - jock/metal head through high school but never really was in either clique.

Had a small close circle of friends, and we liked to do stupid shit, but never got into major trouble - jumping off bridges, UE stuff, you name it - was really into bridge spans for some reason. Never really did too much drugs only because I had enough close people die or get addicted that it scared me to death. Got into the "haunted" side of UE after visiting the Warrens (google them), and liked to scare the shit out of myself by hanging in "supposedly" haunted places in Ct. Let me tell you, it was a great in to getting laid - ghosty chicks are pretty damn freaky..

If only more people would get their heads outta their asses and get on board with this way of thinking... It is good to see that you are centered and grounded, Chrissy! Stay awesome!

Yeah, I'm pretty OK with who I am. Still, sometimes I look back and wonder, but know that I've had the best run possible with what life's given me. I do have a clear vision of where I came from and where I'm going and how to make it happen. I'll check back on that in a few years though, I'm still at the age that I'm full of shit. All I know is tomorrow I start my perfect job (for the moment). I'm very grateful for that.
