Wow, this looks like an amazing place! Sad that it's being demolished.

Bandi and I took a tour over this afternoon, doesn't look like there will be much of anything left by the end of the week.

I was surprised not to have run into a single other person!

I hope there is something left by end of thursday. I'm going to head out there in the evening if anyone will want to join. PM for details.

These are from last night. There will only be the walls and guard towers left on Thursday, if that. Only that tiny part of a building is left, and part of the boiler area, 6 cells in total and 2 shower stalls.
Pardon the shitty cell phone pics.

What a neat location this was. Wish I'd had a chance to see it! Seems to be the way with Ontario abandonments... the good (and big ones) ones always get torn down (with the exception of a couple).

But they're inevitably replaced by other cool spots.

Are they though? I guess it depends on how you'd define cool. I prefer spots that have been abandoned and decaying for decades - the kind of places all over the states. Not to say some of the newer stuff isn't cool, it just isn't my preference.

I hear you. However, there have been some pretty cool places that have come online in the last few years. Some are still there, some are now gone.

Many people lament "the good old days" by which they typically mean "when I was exploring but you weren't". That variously means "I saw cool places that are now gone" or "ho hum, you went to that old whore?".

What's refreshing to me is seeing thoughtful posts from newcomers like you and your exploring partner.

It's true. It's always possible that a gem pops up that has been abandoned for many years and stayed off of the internet. I think each abandonment has it's own character - and while some are more decayed than others and make for better photos, the newer places tend to be the ones where history can more easily be found.

Thank you for the compliment - Bvmblebee and I have been exploring together for a year now, we hoped that by creating our blog (which is where we pull our write ups from) we would be doing something a little different from the norm when it comes to exploring.
