I don't agree that this is an aircraft graveyard for the forces. There's two other major locations for that.. and I've been to one of them (Moutainview)... the aircraft are normally stored a bit better than what is being depicted here.

This quite obviously is a collection of old military aircraft being held by the museum on site. I've seen similar collections all accross the country, although in this case they seem to have been "hoarding" somewhat. These aircraft have all likely been de-certified and altered to prevent them from being able to fly ever again.

Roadwolf or Av or maybe even lopix could probably give a better description, but as I remember it, the guy that owns this place has some kind of obsession with old planes, and spends all of his time and money buying them (in individual pieces) and rebuilding them. There are quite a few which have working flaps, etc.

Well, all I know about the place is that I went there with Roadwolf, Av, lopix, and others, and those three spent a long time speaking with the caretaker, getting details. I don't have any other personal knowledge about it, so I made the best suggestion that I could. Just trying to be helpful. Sorry if I stepped on a toe or two.

I actually worked there for a co-op semester in high school I think it was back in 96/97
The guy who owns/runs the place is Al Rubin and, yes, he is very much a nut.
He has a collection of over 40 antique engines including ones the wright bros. used. some of the highlights I remember are: 2 merlins, a DB 601 (used to power the me-109) gnome rotary (that's the one where the prop is bolted to the crankcase and the shaft is bolted to the plane so the whole engine revolves with the prop), and countless jet turbines sitting around on the ground with no protection except a tarp. Most of what he has is just junk (the merlins are beyond hope) but, he has some real gems too (the DB 601 is in mint condition).
Anyway, he's the classic out-to-lunch / ADHD nutcase who has a million ideas and can't follow through on any of them. Last I heard he was trying to set up a trade school for aircraft manufacturing. Oh yeah, I happen to know he also has some brand-new fire control radars for those f-104's still in their original crates.

This location is right by my house and I have been wanting to go for a while now.

Just wondering how accessibility is now and if I'm going to get chased off by said aircraft nut.

My grandfather is RMC/Canadian Air Force alumni and I have always had an interest in planes.

Not entirely true anymore, I went this weekend Sunday afternoon. The local flying club was there taking lessons, lots of activity on the property. Only location I was allowed to photograph was the 4 jets parked near the visitor lot. I was specifically told not to even bother getting closer to the airstrip without permission (the lot where the 807 white building/hanger is located).
