Currently there are large "Available" signs on the building. The general areas has seen a rebirth, though - perhaps someone will do something with the building. The Emerge Memphis facility, a local startup incubator, is across the street.


Once upon a time plays were staged in the open area inside the gates. I attended a couple.

The first thing you'd have to do in order to use the building would be a ton of cleanup and refurbishment. There's no magic bullet economically, Memphis has to quit being a small town and go legit. There's no Herman Hiller, no Crate & Barrel, no Chanel or Christian Dior boutiques, no more Tower Records or anything like that downtown like you have in San Fran, Boston and Chicago and even New Orleans it seems. Something really big would have to happen to the local economy here for the Tennessee Brewery to come alive again. T.D.

And now there's been renewed interest in the place. They're having evnts there, now. Gotta start somewhere, right?

It's in the works, they're starting to do things with the building. Hell, yes!

Memphis has finally started to pull it up! The Tennessee Brewery and several other buildings in the Downtown core are being either restored or renovated. Even Grand Central Station has been reopened as a high-end hotel of sorts.
So, ther is hope. Haven't been on here in around five years. Ive buried a bunch of Gen X'ers.
And I'll tell you, there are too many Gen X'ers laying in hospital beds, halfway homes, doorways and in the cemetaries. Not good. The rest are unemployed, for ther most part. C'mon, Gen X, let's get our shit together. Pull it up, now! I've buried about 15 Gen X'ers so far. C'mon, now! Time to task up!
I'm glad the UER community is still around. I dig the oldschool Linux/Unix vibe of the website.
I'm thankful to Opheliaism for getting me going here and introducing me aroubnd to everybody. It wasn't easy starting out, but I think I know the lay of the land , as it were.
My life has improved since I first started here. I now make good money at my job as a paralegal and clerk/runner. I have the love of my life. I'm carrying a 4.0 as an undergrad pursuing my BS in media and communications and hopefully headed to law school following graduation. I live in three houses here in Memphis, I've earned my Master Mason's credentials, also I'm now a 32nd Degree freemason via the Scottish Rite, I own ten expensive guitars and various classic amplifiers.
Let's see, what all else? Oh yeah, I've stopped entering empty buildings without permission. Stopped that in 2004 after I got in and couldn't get out, once. And, I've had a falling out with ole Mary Jane. She took my money and left me flat so 86 to all that.
