in italy they destroy this kind of places by restoring them. But it's not easy, i think, to decide wether to let the place fall down in its own beauty or fancy it up with modern technologies. I just participated to project to save an abandoned places in Milan: if you see it, it's a shame! It used to be beautiful, now it's just a bunch of ruins. It would be nice if time stopped at a certain point, leaving traces of what it was before, without tearing the place down if left on it's own. For urban explorers abandoned places are beautiful, but when it goes beyond abandonment, what's left?
