I had no idea you could still buy a Mk2 Jetta in China! (But the facelift is UGLY)

That Jetta facelift is ugly.

And man, do I want one of the Toyota Land Cruiser 70 pickups.

Why does the poor NIVA always get such a bad rap? They have obviously never owned one.

he also said there aren't many around, they are everywhere in Eastern and Southern Europe. I am in hope they start importing them again to Canada, I would buy one on the drop of a hat. I have been driving this one 13 years and I bought it off the lot for 10K. I have only put about 6 k into it since then and that was with two sets of tires and a transmission job. I will miss it.

I'd love to see them here too but I doubt they'd ever get it to meet safety or emission regulations again.

Personally, the Lada Niva is a car that I could see myself owning.

Sigh.

There's guys on eBay selling the front and quarter panels so you can upgrade your XJ to the Chinese update.

That XJ is one of the more tasteful looking Chinese "upgrades" I've seen. I prefer the original but it's not entirely hateful.

Edit: That Peugeot in the background is BADASS.

Its not an upgrade....its the Jeep 2500 which was made by Bejing Jeep, a partnership with SAIC in China and originally AMC, later Chrysler, then DalmlerChrysler. It was discontinued when Chrysler was separated from the germans.

All it is was the 2001 body with a different nose. Everything else was the same except the engines, which they had either some diesel or some "2.8 Litre" engine.

Obviously China doesn't know that 2500 usually leans towards a 3/4 ton.

Wonder what the build quality is on those things? I mean I know Chrysler wasn't great, but could it be worse?

I do know that when we stopped production on the XJ in 2000 for the 2001 Model year, all the tooling was sent from the original Toldeo Assembly to China under the Germans, so I am guessing its more or less the same.

I know that Kenoshawa Engine Assembly exported the 4.0 to China until 1997, when the weird 2.8 litre engine was offered instead.

That's what I meant by upgrade dude. Taking an old car/making it look modern with updated trim and stuff.
