I have gotten to drive a few 911's, from 83 up to 09. Of course, never owned one, or even a hat and jacket. While they are a fun car, and all had decent power the handling always felt, off. I dunno, they handled GREAT but it felt different than I was use to, not bad. Just.....different.

All in all, he was a great man in the automotive world and will be missed.

A great machine indeed, one I consider lucky to have been able to own and drive for 15 years, and to have built and driven many more.

I've never owned one, but have driven and restored many of them. I definitely prefer the pre '74 cars, but wouldn't be picky. The plan at this point is to sell my 914 after it's finished and I enjoy it for a summer, then hopefully find a decent 911 project car that hasn't been entirely bastardized by a previous owned. I've resurrected some that have have some unspeakable acts of mechanical rape committed to them... nothing like finding a '72 euro-spec 911S that someone has put post '74 bumpers on, a turbo-look whaletail and repainted from signal orange to metalflake black.

One for me as well, not only my favorite 911 body but one of my favorite cars, period.

White with a red stripe on mine, thanks.

RIP.

I've noticed that seems to be a trend with used 911s...it must be the personality

I've never driven a 911, but I have ridden in one as a passenger once. My friend Kevin's father has a rather beat up one he has as his fun car. I can't really comment on how the ride was as my Kevin can't shift worth a damm
