More Good News from Kansas

http://www.rawstor...-kill-lgbt-people/

The pastor of New Hope Baptist Church in Seneca, Kansas says President Barack Obama has gone too far in supporting same sex marriage and it’s time for the U.S. government to begin killing gay men and lesbians.

“Terrorists are dangerous, the economy is a real and present danger,” Pastor Curtis Knapp told his congregation on Sunday. “But there is simply nothing other than the holocaust of the unborn which imperils the safety of our country or places our people in jeopardy as does the leader of the Western world publicly raising his fist at the heavens and declaring that the bedrock institution of society, ordained of God and meant to be protected by the state, is little more than a convention of convenience with the children of Sodom to transform the meaning of something, which is precious to Jesus Christ, and a living picture of his love for the church into a legally protected justification for perversion and a vehicle of hatred aimed directly at that love.”

Knapp went on to read from Leviticus 20: “If there is a man who lies with a male as those who lie with a woman, both of them have committed a detestable act; they shall surely be put to death.”

“They should be put to death,” Knapp declared. “‘Oh, so you’re saying we should go out and start killing them, no?’ — I’m saying the government should. They won’t, but they should.”

“You say, ‘Oh, I can’t believe you, you’re horrible. You’re a backwards neanderthal of a person.’ Is that what you’re calling scripture? Is God a neanderthal, backwards in his morality? Is it His word or not? If it’s His word, he commanded it. It’s His idea, not mine. And I’m not ashamed of it.”

“He said put them to death,” he continued. “Shall the church drag them in? No, I’m not say that. The church has not been given the power of the sort; the government has. But the government ought to [kill them]. You got a better idea? A better idea than God?”

Listen to Knapp’s entire 1-hour sermon on “The Curse of Homosexuality” here.

Calls to the New Hope Baptist Church were not returned by the time of publication.

Preached by batshit crazy fucktard

Leviticus 20: “they shall surely be put to death.”

“He said put them to death,” he continued.

That is not very good reading comprehension.

Did you hear the speech when Obama was shaking his fist at the heavens while stating his intention to turn marriage into a perversion and a vehicle of hatred aimed directly at God's love?

Maybe the reverend has terrible listening comprehension skills too

I don't get how people can hold those views nor how they can get "followers." Seems completely out of whack w/society.

Some people need to be led and will believe anything their leaders tell them. I don't think I need to provide examples.

I wonder if the good pastor read Lev. 19, which forbids tattoos?

Can anyone explain to me how believers choose which parts of the OT to follow and which to not follow? There seems to be no consistency.

Intellectual laziness and cowardice.

Some things are easier to comprehend and assimilate into daily life than others. It is easier for someone to read a random verse in a book that says "god made man in his image" and immediately interpret it as meaning man is the greatest shit in the world. If you meditate on the verse further you start to get a different meaning. (I'm just using this particular verse as an example, I'm not trying to debate anything in the bible) So if you read that verse and compare it to the other verses, like before there was the earth there was nothing, you would logically see that in the beginning there was nothing (and god). In order for the earth to be created, it would have had to come from an image god had in his head. You can't create something based off an image of nothing. So basically one could come to the conclusion that EVERYTHING is made in god's image if he is truly the ultimate creator.

That conclusion however, takes a lot more abstract thinking that many people don't seem to do.

I think this quote sums it up pretty well:

"No corrupt mind ever understands words healthily. And just as such people who do not enjoy virtuous words, so the well-disposed cannot be harmed by words which are somewhat less than virtuous, any more than mud can sully sunlight or earthly filth the beauty of the skies." - The Decameron

Honestly, I think some of them have secret gay feelings, and they get scared by them and hide behind the bible. Look at Ted Haggard. OK, don't look AT him, but refer to his example. Over time, as the stigma of gaiety diminishes, the hatred will also diminish, and Lev. 18 will be forgotten along with the rest of it.

BTW, JC Penney is planning on showing a gay male couple in their Father's Day ad.

That does make sense that a gay couple would shop at JCPenney.

Oh good, my slow clap processor made it into this thing.

sadly, more of "society" is still extremely racist and bigoted. Get 20 miles outside of the big city and see w2hat it is like. Go to anywhere much in the south and it's the same, I just back from Iowa, was same all the way there and especially once I got there.

We like to think that as a society we have progressed further than this but sadly, I don't think we have. I live in Dallas, basically a 50/50 split, progressive for the most part. But, head south, go to Pleasant Grove, Mesquite, Sachse, Balch Springs (God forbid), not to just pick on Dallas, how about Burleson, Cleburne, Mansfield, , well you get my drift. All towns within 15 miles of the heart of the city and you wouldn't believe things I hear on a regular basis.

Sorry to tell ya, we do still live in a very backward country where charismatic bigots can still whip up thousands of people in a heartbeat.
