I can't wait for this film:

They all seem really sound about letting on exactly how they do everything, and calling people out who do stupid shit. Check it out:
http://translate.g...ping.ru%2Fforum%2F

I'm especially interested in the way they've chosen to attach the jump rope to the chest/sit harness combination in this thread:
http://translate.g...ping.ru%2Fforum%2F

What's pictured there is totally not the Official Petzl/Black Diamond Instruction Booklet Way™, or the way I've seen anyone use a chest harness before. It looks like they're just begging for three-way loads on those crabs.

I need to get my Lithuanian mate to do some proper translation before he disappears off on the Prague-Mongolia rally tomorrow...

Any input anyone? Would love to hear from defecto or -Rio-, love your videos guys

Here's another one that really does it for me. They're using a much more sensible one piece harness, but it must be a proper pain in the ass to recover the jumper each time...

I don't care for the amount of slack they're leaving in their rope on the second vid. But they can rig it however they want and I'll keep rigging mine with minimum slack.

Indeed. Although it's hard to tell exactly how far away their rig point is, they definitely appear to be creating some pretty insane shock loads when they land, which climbing gear is not designed for...not to mention the human body.

They usually anchor on the opposite side of the bridge, so with the horizontal movement of the jumper it's less than fall factor 1. And they're on two ropes, each rated for 11 back-to-back factor 1.7 falls of an 80kg lump of metal... this is exactly what climbing gear is designed for!

The sit/chest harness combination knot they recommend in the thread up there ^ turns out to be a bowline-on-the-bight loaded in a strange way, I'm not keen.

I'm still working on this, we're not as bridge-rich as the US but there are a few candidates, most already complete with youtube videos of people doing much more dangerous things...

Dynamic ropes are close to 25% stretch.

Seems like if you have MORE rope between you and the anchor, you can get MORE stretch, yes?

if you have 50ft with slack pulled out, you can stretch about 12.5ft, but if you have 100ft with slack hanging, you can stretch twice as far, granted you'll be falling faster.

I'd use as massive a dynamic rope as I could find to do that.

Some of our buddies on here do bridge-jumping, I wonder what they have to say about it?

Give a person a match and they'll be warm for a minute, but light them on fire and they'll be warm for the rest of their life. =)

I use two 11mm dynamic ropes, which have 30% of stretch. I also use four 2" synthetic slings + four 4 1/2 tons shackles for anchor and softeners for the slings to protect against sharp edges. My anchorage is good for 36 000bls. Its over kill, but i know this part wont fail. The shackles are that big just because i wanted a wider bend in my rope vs using carabiners.

The amount of slack in their lines is insane. Unless they have some extra thick ropes (the thickest dynamic ropes i have found is 11mm) or a shock absorber at the top between the anchor and the ropes... you would never see me jump that way. Its pretty much bungee jumping with a little bit of swing at the end, but using climbing ropes..

Myself I started with pulling the ropes fairly tight. Since i got bored after a few jumps, I then started leaving some slack. so i get a bit of a free fall, but mostly this allows me to do flips when jumping.

*Therrin can see someone saying "aww shucks, too bad there's no bridges in my state!"

Then they sit back and wait.

Moments later ya'll are posting up all their bridges and how to find them.

Like shooting fish in a barrel.

To be fair I did at least take the time to click around a few on the website posted - it led me to this
