Don't worry. You're not in the way of anything.

Can you post anything but personal attacks? Maybe some facts or something of value? Seriously, you just spew bigotry and hatred against religion and when I point out that you are being dishonest with the truth or the good religious groups do you just snap back with useless little personal digs like a 13 year as a thinly veiled way to put off addressing the point. Pathetic.

spew bigotry and hatred against religion

no one does bigotry and hatred like organized religion, cletus.

Organized religion is ugly. It hates. It promotes bigotry. It promotes distrust. And it covers all that up with a sky blue candy shell.

most of the religious people out there just want to be left alone and worship their invisible friend until they're blue in the face. Well la-di-da for them. Great. Have at it. But those other fuckers, those other evil motherfuckers just can't let it go. They've got this fucked circuit in their head that tells that they have to save the world. The preach from this book that contradicts itself at every turn, promotes some pretty fucked behavior and then puts this hippie Jesus guy out there to cover it up for the hard sell to the suburbs... I despise and loathe the entire concept of god and faith. You know how much fucking further the entire human race would be if god/allah and whatever took a flying leap into the past? of course you don't.

so who's more pathetic? someone that actually believes in rational scientific process and deductive reasoning or some softhead that puts all their faith in some invisible friend that should've gone out of style about 2000 years ago.

So here we go... what an evil person I am... fuck it.
i don't give a shit what you think.

You are entitled to that opinion and I certainly understand why you would have it. Dislike religion all you want, it has causes some terrible shit and some people continue to do abhorrent things with the idea they are serving God. That being all well and good, it does not mean it makes it reasonable to ignore the good people do in the name of religion and that organized religion has done. Nor does it make you seem reasobale to present lies and twisted statistics as fact just because they fit your worldview and idea of how things are. That is what Glenn Beck does. That is how a radical operates.

All you did in the "Rise of the religiously unaffiliated" thread was essentially ad hominem trolling

Yet again you deflect saying anything of value and instead take a jab.

I do enjoy how merely pointing out that religious organizations do a lot of good works today immediatly results me being attacked as though I just came to your door and told you to repent or burn.

You know, for a bunch of people who don't believe in something you all sure spend a hell of a lot of time talking about it and directing hatred towards those who do. it seems to me people can be plenty hateful and bigoted without any God telling them to do so. There goes that theory.

Again, this is something that didn't happen. You were not attacked.

And, as a fun coincidence shortly after my last post, two very nice women did in fact come to my door with a message from God that I should read the Bible. I very politely told them that I am familiar with the Bible and wasn't really interested in their offer to ask God some questions, and they went on their way.

No, I see snide and insulting remarks for what they are. They are insulting personal attacks.

I say persecution complex lies with those deliberately twisting facts and outright falsifying information to imagine they are being massively oppressed by the Catholic Church.

Religion is there, it causes bad things, it causes good things, its gonna be here until long after you and I both die and long after we have both rotted back to dirt. Sorry for your luck.

I was referring to the "information" Samurai posted.

Do you possess the capability to make a rational argument, or are vitriol remarks anchored in your personal idea of superiority the extent of it?

bigot? no. Opinionated and annoyed? yes.
you don't get me, do you. I have despised organized religion since I was old enough to see what it's really about. It's not about love thy neighbor or any of the hippie doodad bullshit like that. It's about fear. It's about control. It's about exclusion. And it's about pomposity.

if you stopped and really thought about it, thought about how much further we'd be as a planet now without god and all the bullshit that goes with it, you stop in your tracks. But no, here we are.

And someone, i think it was Mcnulty, was expounding all the great charity works that the church does... yeah, like aid in the spreading of HIV and AIDS in Africa by telling them that rubbers are a sin? Yeah, great one there. I could go on, but to be honest what's the point. you've made up your mind, i've made up mind and neither one really gives a shit what the other thinks. Right?

And what really offends these assholes to begin with? Isn't there some shit in the old fan favorite that more or less says, 'mind yer fuckin business!'?

Again you are picking isolated incidents. The vast majority of religion and religious people are not evil. Am I allowed to say every gay person is a child molester because most child molesters abuse children of the same sex? Can I take back all the work I have done for gay rights and force my aunt to divorce her wife because of a few fucked up people? Is that right or fair? Does that make any sense? Can I call you a child rapist sam, just because you're gay? If not, then you are a hypocrite.

no, but enough of them are so ignorant that they paint the majority with a brush of stupidity. Sorry, and this offensive, but i think that if you believe in an invisible man in the sky, you're fucking either cracked or weak-minded and need to think for yourself.

Am I allowed to say every gay person is a child molester because most child molesters abuse children of the same sex?

No, because statistically, the overwhelming majority of child molesters/ pedophiles are heterosexual males.

Can I take back all the work I have done for gay rights and force my aunt to divorce her wife because of a few fucked up people?

if you support organized religion, in my eyes you may as well do that.

Can I call you a child rapist sam, just because you're gay?

anyone ever calls me that, they're getting knocked the fuck out. that's not an allegation you throw the fuck around.

How am I a hypocrite? I walk what I talk and make no apologies.
I think the so-called faithful are fucked in the head and I will tell you that to your face.
What I don't understand is how, as you stated, do work for gay rights and then support a structure that wants to take those rights away?
Is that being more of a hypocrite than i?

Sam, im an atheist, I dont blindly judge entire groups based on the actions of a few. Im not defending religion, im defending all the people who are religious and aren't bad people. Im defending those who you so hatefully push off to the side. There are good Christians, Muslims, Jews, Satanist, atheist, agnostics. Just like there are bad ones. Attitudes like this is why some groups can't come around to gay rights or whatever issue people want. I got into an argument against two preachers who were protesting the pride party here in town. I argued with them in a calm collected manner, didnt call any names, and used the bible against them. I won the argument and proved them wrong on every thing they said. On the other hand, the other people screaming at them and using profanity lost and proved them right. you cant just write off an entire group of people based off the actions of a select few. You do that then people should be allowed to do the same to you.

No. Child sexual abuse is endemic within Christianity, and has been for hundreds of years. Whatever we're reading/hearing about now is in no way/shape/form new to the Christian religion.

The vast majority of religion and religious people are not evil.

That's a matter of opinion. Religion is, by its very nature, a totalitarian system. My way/the highway. Deviations are punishable by either excommunication of death.

Am I allowed to say every gay person is a child molester because most child molesters abuse children of the same sex?

You have numbers for this? The claim is specious.

Can I call you a child rapist sam, just because you're gay? If not, then you are a hypocrite.

Has Sam raped any children? Your question and position is slanderous.

Bottom line (generally within the context of this thread): religion is evil. It is morally hypocritical. It's practitioners are morally vacuous.
