Let me start by saying:

The Descent
Blair Witch Project
House of 1,000 Corpses (Rob Zombie)

Love them all but a bad idea to watch before going underground, into a bunker or any kinda of dark abandoned house : /
You can actually see the Blair Witch in the cabin at the end of the movie...don't believe me? YouTube it.

Blam, look at 1:30, just outside the window

The Blair Witch Project was fun... i thoroughly enjoyed that movie and was hoping the witch was going to off the girl first.

What I liked about The Descent was the anti-ending... all was not happily ever after.

I have yet to see The Descent, though I have heard nothing but good things about it.

Blair Witch Project is one of the few movies to ever scare me. It still freaks me out to this day.

House of 1000 Corpses is hilarious! One of my favorite movies, watch it with commentary for some great insights and insight in some of the jokes.

I have heard The Tunnel is really scary, yet to see it though.

There is a patch of real estate we ride out quads through to get to Kingdom Dam and as the forest closes in around you and it gets deep forest dark, you get that creepy feeling... I don't like.

The Descent itself was an alright movie, but it was definitely the theatrical ending that made it quality material.

I watched The Descent and 30 Days of Night the day before exploring a factory in Cleveland... BY MYSELF!!! I guess there are rooms down below that are pitch dark, but I was too freaked to go down there alone after watching those movies. I stayed on the ground floor, shooting video.

There's one scene in I am Legend that gets tense, where Will Smith goes looking for his dog in an unlit building.

Peanut butter jar. The greed driven solo run in Session 9 successfully dishes out the creepy.

C.H.U.D. - for fear of being in an underground tunnel and coming face to face with 80's mutton chop Daniel Stern.

We weren't sure what to expect with this movie at first. It starts out kinda cheesy but keeps getting better and better! It actually turned out to be really good!

I suppose more for those who explore caves and mines than buildings, but definitely Sanctum.

Could you imagine a face to face with one of these after turning a corner in the dark?

No movie in general makes me scared of exploring. But if I did find an old house in the woods at night I wouldn't go in bc of the Blair Witch Project.

But everytime I am at a military base I get uneasy, because i love conspiracy theories, and I start to think "what if they did freaky experiments on people and animals and there some left behind?"

below is a photo of the real life "Blair Witch" house...

...and here is a variation of the same plan book design...

Both homes are about 200 years old and are classified as federal period architecture. One was built in a basic craftsman style, while the other is an example of refined vernacular.

If I can picture an abandonment as it once was, and not what scary movies try to make them into, then I have no problem checking it out.

I am kinda scared of bums though.

That's a great question. It's in an unincorporated township of Baltimore called Granite, and despite being on a community heritage register for the last 20 years, it was slated for demolition following it's big screen debut. Last I heard the home had received a stay of execution and was possibly going to be restored, but that was ages ago and I haven't heard anything since.

Seriously? Nobody's been out to it?

OMFG we have one just like this up the hill about 20 minutes away from me, but its one of those "stilt" homes and all the local kids say the same thing about being scared to go inside and seeing faces in the windows at night.

Oh, and its right down the road from this (not my pic!) Sorry, its hard to see with the glare but where I'm from we have this Giant cross on the mountain that looks down over all the cities on the peninsula, East of the ocean. You can see it from across the bay on a clear evening b/c they have spotlights on it at night

I love your comments. Reminds me of a house we explored in SE Ohio back in 1989. Had the same feel, plus the possibility of being accosted by moonshine-addled Appalachian Americans.

I always think of the 90's movie Trespass, with Bill Paxton and Ice T. 2 guys look for money hidden in an abandonment and end up being chased through the building by gangs in East St. Louis.

It's a scary thought til you get to East St. Louis to explore then realize no one is in there but you and does not seem to care.
