Got some NOS Wats for my us-S, and while I know I need a few threads clear on the nuts, any comments on the chamfered seating face of the existing nuts? Should I replace with larger faced nuts to fill the whole hole? I don't see any reason to myself... Thanks! Neko.

Any larger and you wouldn't be able to get a lug wrench on them. Actually, it looks like you hardly can now.

Looks like a wheel that needs "tuner" lugs. You're engaging more than an adequate amount of thread, but I'd want something that's not likely to damage the lug seating surface. Just make sure you're using the correct lug nuts for the wheels. Those wheels probably need acorn nuts, but it's something you need to be sure of.

friend of mine once put steel wheel lugnuts on aluminum wheels... they went through it.

Thanks guys. The alloys have little steel cups in their stud holes assume to stop being chewed, and the existing steel lug nuts are indeed acorn shaped. Sounds like I am OK, but should perhaps look at something to match the whole acorn shaped hole on the wheel. Neko.

From what I've seen, the nut is different between regular rims and alloy rims.

I think most performance shops keep a good selection of alloy nuts in stock if you wanted to just take a peek at them. At Partsource we typically have to order them in, and I'd suspect any Auto Zone, Partsource, etc type of place would be the same.

Thanks too; I'll cruise past Autobacs, Super Ricoland, and Yellow Hat to check out their options! That's a good idea. Neko.

Definitely the wrong nuts, most alloys will have a specific seat, and some even use a collared nut (some Toyotas).

Yeah. The wheel maker says the regular nuts are 'OK', but recommended to use the full 60deg covered head acorn style. Thanks again. Neko.

Thanks! Lowering a smidge comes next... The ride height is a little lower than above (having just been taken off jacks), but it still needs a few mm drop to sit just OK. Neko.

Good start! A 1969 S800M Coupe. Twin-cammed, 100bhp/L (almost), 10,000rpm screamer...

the only reason I said Honda was that there is a decal on the quarter window that looked like old old school Honda emblem... It looks fun to drive.

It is indeed fun! Your arse is about 10cm off the ground, your legs are straight out, and the gear box has this gorgeous short-throw stick that connects straight to the selectors. You can hear them working. It feels like a go-cart, and did I mention the sound?

More here: http://japanesenos...ic.php?f=1&t=19147

Thanks. Neko.
