It's 1 of 264 made (overseas AND in the US), but can you honestly say you'd own one?

I'd love to own a Harlequin Golf. Almost have.

It's cool how they built them, too- they'd park four different coloured cars in a row and swap the panels between them.

Too bad it has awful wheels and eBay tail lights.

Chances are that the tuning shop it's parked in front of is responsible for those. Shame!

But yeah, it's a pretty neat find, and I didn't expect to see one in the US. I think I may have seen one in Berlin, but I forget.

saw one of these just the other night actually....not my style, but it's cool and I can appreciate it.

I love it! The colors themselves aren't the greatest (I would have gone with primary/secondary colors) but I like the concept.

Speaking of Golves, I'd love to get a Pink Floyd edition Golf.

I've seen a couple of these over the years in Ontario. Didn't know they were THAT rare.

I came across one when I was looking for my first car, but it was too expensive. I would love to own one though!

Harlequin Edition Harlequin Edition, Ginster yellow base color (see colors chart) Volkswagen originally created the Design series to tour at International Auto shows. Due to the huge public response of the original four Design series, 60 more were produced. Eventually, the model was released as an option in Europe, but only 264 were made and offered in 1996 in the North American market. Based on the 1996 Golf GL platform, the Harlequin model included: limited edition Harlequin paint scheme, limited edition Harlequin sport cloth seats, and silver-faced gauges. They were offered with several different wheel options. The Harlequins were produced by swapping the body panels of four different colored Golfs. They are usually designated by their base color (the color of the car with no body panels attached). The base color is not repeated on any of the other body parts.

If anything, this is proof that the motto "ugly is cool" still applies in the tuner scene.

I'm not even sure if you could call any of the cars pictured sleepers, just because they look so outlandish unmodified.

i used to own a chevy cavalier harlequin, strangely it was extremly rare but worthless, didnt do it to be cool more like poverty

I honestly like the Harlequin Golf, I'd own one. There's one in a tiny town near where I live.

those arent ebay taillighs, theyre super rare hella blues

I was thinking that but the inner edge looks wrong. Rare as they may be, they're not attractive taillights.
