Mobile check depositing = totally useless

Today's payday... and I found out the PNC Mobile app has check depositing... take a pic of the front and back of the check and it will deposit it into my account. It's snowing and the roads suck, so in theory I don't have to hit the ATM tonight. Easy as shit, right?

Nope. "Can't recognize an endorsement". Retraced my signature with a thicker pen. Nope. Went at it again with a fucking SHARPIE.

Nope. "The image of the back/front/both is too dark, please retake both photos in better light". Well, no fucking shit it's too dark, you give me no fucking camera control whatsoever. Want more light? Flash? Too fucking bad... automatic exposure comp, bitch! Image darkens to what the phone feels is "natural" if I move the light too close.

I dick around with this for 20 minutes and when I finally have pics that it should easily recognize, it gives me a generic "We can't deposit your check at this time. Please visit a PNC branch or ATM to deposit your check.".

Okay, so after you told me to write "FOR PNC MOBILE DEPOSIT ONLY" under the endorsement, you want me to go to the bank, now?

FFFFFFUUUUUUUUUUUUUUU......

Hope I can still deposit it at the ATM.

My best friend still does checks for his employees.

I hate this shit. Had one of those moments a year or so back, when I deposited my money via ATM, and it didn't recognize it. Had to stay in a town I didn't live in so I could go in Monday and fight for my $300.

Tech is wonderful when it works properly. When it doesn't, it makes you yearn for a 90 year old teller in a green acrylic visor who will at least get your business handled, no matter how slowly.

I have changed my personal exploring ethics code. From now on it will be: "Take only aimed shots, leave only hobo corpses." Copper scrappers, meth heads and homeless beware. The Jonsered cometh among you, bringing fear and dread.

most of the people i work with all do direct deposit. I do not. i want that check in my hand. i go to the credit union and deposit it in my account. Ok, so I do use a debit card more than cash.

Me since my work never figured out how to set up direct depositing and I gave up trying after 8 months and 5 tries.

Direct deposit is easy to set up. Really easy for us.

If you have a check book, you already have all the information you need.

The numbers are on the bottom of your check already.

I use direct deposit because I used to have to hand off my paycheck to my mom or my stepdad on my way to work on Fridays so they could cash it and take care of whatever needed to be taken care of, I got real tired of that fast.

A few years ago, I had just changed banks because my other one refused to cash a loan check for me unless I had the amount in my checking account. So, I withdrew everything I had in that bank and went to the credit union.

Also they gave me a debit card when the other bank required that I have a line of credit to get one and doesn't charge me for using it, like the other bank did. Anyway, the credit union did not open on a Friday morning because of a really really really bad snowstorm. They also were not open on Saturday morning for three hours like usual because of that storm.

So, anybody with a paper check had to wait until Monday.

Me...found a working ATM, withdrew my limit of cash for the day, which is $400 and had money for the weekend, then returned home to dig out from beneath two feet of snow. My check clears my bank and gets deposited at 1am on Friday morning, so even if I work days when I have to leave the house at 5am, I can get money at their free atm.

So, direct deposit has it's advantages.

Oh, one more thing...should that Friday we get paid fall on a holiday...my paycheck credits my account a day before, on Thursday. Even when the company doesn't hand out paychecks UNTIL FRIDAY. So...yay direct deposit.

HAHAHA! Yup! My check took 20 selfies in different ambiance lighting that day. USELESS!
I immediately kicked my bank app outta my phone and ate my check out of frustration.

Shit, I tried to set up direct depositing several years ago. After giving my employer AT LEAST 4 blank checks over several months and they still couldn't get it working, I gave up.

Maybe they didn`t want to pay you and tried to use that as an excuse not to pay you.

A former boss of mine came up with some really zany excuses as to why the cheques were not either there or had bounced. Best one was that he was critically injured in a car accident and was coughing up blood and near death. That excuse was delivered the following day after the accident in the office in person. Er, yeah, sure bud! No bruises or even cuts and he was walking normally. Oh, I forgot, he`s a very fast healer!!
