If they were *really* reverse engineering alien technology, don't you think the first thing they would do is the cloaking device? You wouldn't need A51 then. You could park that bird at O'Hare and nobody would notice.

probably.

from what i have read and seen, it seems most likely that Area 51 was dealing with experimental aircraft and military tech, rather than any alien stuff.

Maybe the aliens didn't have cloaking things!

Area 51 was where they worked on the 'Skunkworks' project AKA stealth fighters and bombers.

Wasn't Skunkworks for rockets? I thought all the area 51 stuff was by Martin Marietta.

Nah, Skunkworks was the B2 bomber and F 117 Nighthawk. There may have been other things with skunkworks, but I know those two were.

From what i know and have seen which is alot (documentarys ...) area 51 its used as a military base for developping new technology and testing it , and they really dont want anybody knowing about that technology or any leakage of info ... no aliens otherwise religion would be thrown away so as alot of science facts ....

I saw the definitive explanation of Area 51 in the Weekly World News last week. There are no aliens, spaceships, time warps, tunnels or anything like that. It's really a bordello for high ranking government officials where they can go and cut loose out of the public eye. Oh if Gary Hart had only known...

I remember my Dad telling me about the Aroura project in the late 70's. He was really adamant about 'new' technology. Before he joined the corporate world of pest control, he was a bombadier/navigator in the USAF.

I've seen a couple of documentaries on A51 where the military was actually building a UFO style object, but it wasn't meant to emulate any alien ship, it was being built as a new technology to be used. I think that's why people may feel it's based on aliens and whatnot, because of the odd "planes" they see flying around the area.

Why is marijuana not legal? Why is marijuana not legal? Its a natural plant that grows in the dirt. You know what's not natural, 80 year old dudes with hardons. Thats not natural, but we got pills for that. We're dedicating all our resources to keeping the old guys erect but we're puttin people in jail for smoking something that grows in the dirt.

I've heard from very very reliable sources that the base known as Area 51 is actually the site where Cadbury gets the caramel inside the Caramilk bar.

Go figure.

Really? And all this time I thought it's where Jimmy Hoffa and Osama Bin Laden are hiding with Elvis! (Actually Elvis was at the Psych for a while but that's another story.)

Pretty interesting place. Would be wicked to check it out. Just watch out for the armed guards. One mis-step and you're gonna have a really bad day!

Jimmy's dead. Has been for a long time.

Osama is selling hot dogs in Times Square. But that's just his weekend gig. He's actually a suit and tie guy working out of a corner office for some Big Shot investment firm on Wall St. Seriously.

Elvis is a zoo-keeper in Belgium.

As I understand it, Area 51 is a massive complex surrounded by a highly electrified perimeter topped off with razor wire. Then it's a 100 mile walk through the dessert to the base proper, over which travellers may find motion detectors, cameras, and a shitload of soldiers who have orders to shoot-to-kill-on-sight any trespasser stupid enough to have ignored the various warning signs posted about every 100 feet around the place.

Whatever goes on inside Area 51, it better serves the imagination than reality.
