Construction site over 50 years ago. Crank over a dozer with no keys... just a starter button.
Fun times for a hell raising 6 yo.

Some buddies and I were bored one night and all broke so we had to find something to do. We started looking into haunted places with no luck I saw a link to some abandoned buildings within the state. It was night and we had nothing else to do so we said what the he'll and went to an abandoned steel mill. Pulled up to the multiple buildings and got out. Instantly we were all hooked. Looking at all the decay and what was left in the building was exciting and interesting at the same time.

My friends like to go out in massive groups and drink/club/party.. I dont care to do that as much as they do. So one night I was sitting on my front porch, bored, alone, maybe a few yuenglings down when I decided to just walk. I kept walking until I saw what would be my first location. The security was gone for the day and a hole was already conveniently cut into the barbed wire fence. With just a light off my phone I terrified myself for about 3 hours and then dipped after a few junkies started coming around..... and here we are. But luckily I'm not as stupid (I think).

Also.. I was told about 2-3 weeks after I did this a photographer and two models snuck out there to have a shoot and the photographer was shot by a train hopper... so I guess you could say I dodged that bullet? (Don't worry the source said he didn't die.)

I've always had an interest in old/abandoned things, and growing up in the forest, I'd look for anything I could find, be it old tires and barrels in a clearing, or the remains of a foundation.

As far as an actual location goes, I had some abandoned cottages by the house I grew up in and I was always interested in them. When I was around 10, me and my sisters snuck into a couple of them (they weren't locked), and it was so interesting to see the places just left in time, and the decay that came with that.

Our town used to have an old railroad building until it was demolished a few years back. Four or five friends and I worked up the courage to climb in through a broken window on a whim one night and explore around. We wandered the upper offices and main bay but hadn't brought flashlights so we didnt go any further. The next week we came back with one flashlight (we were young and unprepared) and explored the lower offices. Just as we had found a set of stairs leading below the main bay we heard people throwing rocks through the windows from outside so we left. We came back the following weekend (this time with 2 flashlights and a bunch of glowsticks) and explored the lower level. One area was flooded so we went down the other way and explored a bunch of storage rooms. The creepiest thing was near the end of this long hallway. Being underground the walls and everything were concrete with the exception of the one wall at the very end. It was brick with a few pieces missing. I managed to poke the flashlight in and look through and there was small room (not so much a room but the last 6' of the hallway) There was a shovel leaning up in the corner and the dirt floor clearly disturbed. It seemed pretty reasonable to assume something was buried there and then bricked over hastily enough they left the shovel behind. Overall it was a lot of fun exploring and I got a creepy story to tell.

My first location was an old mansion that had been abandoned in 94. I was out with some friends when I had first heard about it. The story behind it is what had attracted me to it in the first place. The rumor was the family that had lived there was murdered. It's rumored that whoever carried out the killings had killed everyone to include the kids and the dogs. Not sure if it was true though. I tried for a while to find anything about this family and found nothing. Anyway, the house was incredible. It was tucked in at the end of the block and was a very large house for the area it was in. 3 stories tall plus an attic. It had an indoor swimming pool as well as a very large green house and the dog house out side was big enough to be a sleep-in cabin. Lots of cool stuff to see. I wish i still had the pictures I had taken in there but this was 9 or 10 years ago. That phone is long gone along with all of the pictures on it.

my first location was an abandoned insane asylum. most of the buildings were torn down already - but there were still quite a few left to explore. The location had these tunnels that went underground - they were all filled to the top with water. so sadly I was not able to explore those. I recently went there again, just to see how different it was. There are only 4 or 5 buildings left. such a shame! one of the buildings you cannot get into anymore.

I have always been interested in history and old buildings and a few months ago I was hanging out under this bridge with my friends and we overheard a group of younger teenagers talking about this abandoned prison in the area. I overheard a street number but that was all. Later the next week my best friend and I drove up an down the whole street from like 1am till 4am trying to find the prison and we found it and it was such an incredibly cool thing. And now I can't stop lol

Circa 2009, in the US when the stock markets took a hit, and a lot of people lost their homes, I was still in high school and I started getting curious about these abandoned houses, usually left in disrepair, or it became that way very shortly from squatters, looters, or hooliganism and vandalism. I'd always wait for a broken door, unlatched fence, etc before going in. First one was a 2 story house, the same exact floor plan as my mom's place, old place by my neighborhood's standards, originally built in the 40's, in severe disrepair, and about 3 blocks over. I walked past it on the way to my local pool where we had a membership, and I was always curious about it.

I remember at one point, the front door was laying on the hinges on the front lawn. I came back that night to look at it after my mom and siblings had crashed, and I decided to go inside. All I had for light was a shitty cell phone. I walked around in the living room, all the furniture left behind, walls vandalized, and an old CRT TV sat on the kitchen floor with a giant hole through the screen. I walked upstairs, and made it to the door of the master bedroom when i heard the garage door open downstairs. I opened the door to the master bedroom, saw nothing but a shitty mattress and a pile of broken wood bed-frame pieces in the corner of the room. I then went through the adjoining master bathroom, and climbed out the window, while whoever had entered was already heading up the stairs. I laid down on the patio roof, (which was what the window dropped out onto) as quietly as I could until I heard them go back downstairs. When I dropped from the patio cover roof, they saw me, looked at me weird, and then went back to their business(squabbling over who gets what rock[crystal meth]). I left through the side gate to the backyard, realized my bike had been stolen by the meth-heads, probably brought inside, so I noped the fuck out and went home.

I grew up in a town where mining had come and gone... iron ore mines operated by a company called Republic Steel. It all closed in 1972 and the pumps keep the water out of the mines were shut off in 1973. As a result, most of the abandonments were demolished save for a few. That curiosity led me into checking them out, seeing what was left. Once I got a drivers license and a car, my curiosity led to a hobby.

First location, well, it was a dilly and is now gone. It was the National Lead ilmenite mine at Tahawus NY... unfortunately, it's all gone now, but we (my friends on here) got some good pics and video before the hammer dropped.

sometimes I think this is a dying hobby because the rate of redevelopment is on the rise... liability of abandoned places also plays a factor.

My first location? November 2006, Boston T tunnels. I was 17 and clueless, visiting MIT (which I of course got rejected from), and following the advice someone had given me along the way, always say I'm a freshman from [nearby state school] who just transferred in, see the actual college experience that way. And that was what I found, in a way. First time ever exploring, and I wasn't sure I liked it, running through the Red Line from MIT to Harvard watching out for the third rail and trains and somehow not getting pulverized or arrested. Looking back on it, it's still the highest risk place I've ever gone/ever will go.

Some friends showed me an abandoned factory some time ago. we just went there to explore. everything has been removed from the main area so it was wide and open. there was a section of it though that was used as office space and it had been absolutely demolished. parts of the walls torn down and the ceilings hanging down. Almost every inch of wall was covered in graffiti.

I lived overseas as a kid. When in Singapore, my dad came across a fishing junk that was literally sinking when we were on the beach for a vacation. He was able to retrieve the brass compass and compass holder (that was lit at night with a candle). He felt bad about removing something from the boat, but it literally went under with him on it.

When we were in Brazil, there was an abandoned sugar plantation by our place. My dad would take me out there, and we'd traipse around the grounds.

The first time I ever did anything without my dad present was at our church in the States. They'd built a new sanctuary, and the old church building from 1917 was used for a couple of classrooms, but the majority of it was locked up. I was ten or so, and we were farting around one day, and we were able to access an old elevator shaft and a spiral utility staircase by moving a panel from the drop ceiling and crawling around. On the top floor, we found the old sanctuary. It hadn't been used in 25+ years. Where the pews were had been removed, and it was the ceiling for the "new" classrooms underneath. The pulpit, choir section and baptismal pool (we're Baptist) were all still there. There were hymnals and bulletins for the last service held sitting there. We'd sneak up there regularly, but as often happens, one of my friends fell through the sheetrock and ended up in one of the classrooms. He wasn't hurt, but we got a good asschewing by the pastor out of it. They forever sealed it off as a result. They eventually tore the place down in 1998 to make way for a gym and fitness center, but I was hooked by then.

My friend and I were bored and wandering around in the woods near where we worked and stumbled on a tiny abandoned house. We saw that the door wasn't even latched, so we went in. We were just beginning to poke around when we heard movement done the hall. Deciding to play it safe, we left and came back a few weeks later, and this time, no one else was there. The place was pretty cool, but some of the floors were caving in. It was fascinating to see the beauty that came from the decay. I wish I took pictures of it!

My friend and I, back in high school, were hanging out at the school until a football game in a few hours. We were wandering the school when we found one of the janitor closets open, and when we went in to look around, we saw that the latch to the roof wasn't locked. After getting up there, we were hooked. We got up on that roof probably two dozen times before we graduated and was definitely the starting point of my interest in UE.

It was a total accident! I was probably 9 - 10 at the time. My family went on a road trip to Montana to see family. There wasn't really a lot for kids to do (everyone except my parents, sister, and I were retirees). One day during the happy hours that started at 3pm my sister and I started wandering in the woods around the cabin. We probably hasn't gone even a 1/2 mile when we found an abandoned cabin! It was so cool! Built-in wood stove, built-in wooden toilet and magazines. So many magazines! My sis acquired a license plate that was in the area and I acquired some magazines. My dad came with us the next day and we all hung out there when family time got to be too much for the remainder of the trip.

My dad and sis were up there about 5 years ago and the cabin is now gone

Well it's a bit hazing exactly which was the first, however this was my first construction site that I can recall.
I was 5 yo and it was around 6 or 7PM in the summer, the workers were gone.
They were digging out a basement for a house.
There was a big yellow Cat dozer with no key needed.
I pushed the starter button and let it turn over a few.
It did. Decided to call it a day, that was good enough.

I always regretted not playing with it a bit more... what could they have done?
More importantly, what could I have done?

Just when I thought I was out... they pulled me back in.

I've been exploring and doing these things ever since I was a kid. I just found out about a year ago that exploring is actually a thing. Thought I was just the weird one lol. But the story of when I realized other people do this was last spring. I met a girl who is now my girlfriend and we went to a waterfall and climbed down and under it. She mentioned that she wishes there were more spots to explore that people don't know about and I knew that was my time to share. So I told her I knew a few spots. Caves drains buildings.wasnt long after that we started dating and exploring together. Ever since that day we have found so much without having to travel to far. That's a nice thing about TC. There is alot to explore arpund here. And so many places you can't get bored. Just had a spaghetti dinner in a cave for Valentine's day. I love exploring. But I love it even more when I'm not running into teens

Just boof it!!
