These are the same ones that are in another thread. Despite there being mixed reviews, I like them a lot. They aren't good for like...if you need a SUPER-BRIGHT light, though. Not that, I ever do.

I love the functions on them because I use both a lot. xD The flood mode is what I use for light painting a lot, either to paint something or to light something up, they are great. I carry other lights too, mind you. Due to the fact they only require one battery, I tend to use it more often, because I can't afford to replace the 3+ that my others ones use quickly.

They aren't entirely waterproof, as I went in a sewer in August, and moisture definitely got into it, but the light still works, so I suppose I can't be too upset.

I picked up one of these via amazon. Took forever, but when I finally tried it out, I was surprised. It's really bright for it's size, and good if you need some proximity lighting (say in a drain). You could carry 20 of these and use them as ambient lights. I ordered a few more $5. Treat them as disposable, bright torches, get a decent waterproof light for exploring/everyday use.

More like 80 lumens on one AA, but that was enough for cave search and rescue in the 1980s.

Yeah, I had the same experience with another one of those zoomy-type ones - they aren't waterproof like the non-zoomy cheap ones are I like them for light painting, though, the zoomed-wide mode is pretty smooth.

life's too short to buy cheap rubbish. I've owned a few of those discount lights and they're good for a couple of weeks/months and then die. Personally, I'd rather just spend a bit more upfront and buy light from Fenix, LED Lenser, Quark or other reputable brands that will last for years.
