Drug seizure/unvinned training car...

I'm sure some redneck would have paid a lot of money to get those wheels on his truck, however.

If that breaks your heart, at the Cincinnati State college auto shop, there's a 1973 camaro, with a 350 v8, auto trans, landau top, and only 914 miles that's been apart just as many times.

we had two cars at the job corps that made me tear... one was a mint 1987 Chevrolet Celebrity CL. 18 miles, cut it up for scrap. The other was a fully-loaded, top of the line S10 Baja Blazer that had fallen off a car carrier. Minimal damage, 6 miles on the odo. Oddly enough, our shady instructor made that one disappear... no one ever knew where it went.

We had a '93 Tracker that fell off of a train and a '93 Lumina Euro with roof damage at my high school. Someone donated an Omni when I was in grade 12, which actually kinda excited me.

College ('02-'05) we had an '01 Impala that was apparently built of out spare parts around the Oshawa plant, a '99 Regal, a 2000ish Sebring and a 2000ish Avalanche. Bah.

The Avalanche got sent out and chopped up into a bunch of training modules (ie, the full drivetrain mounted on a cart, with ECU breakout boxes and working climate control and 4wd, with plexiglass on the heater box, etc... so you could play with all that stuff and interfere with the operation, etc... that was kinda cool and probably cost a fortune.

Turns out it's a preventative measure for covering Chrysler's ass, since a few donated Vipers (which aren't registered) have been in accidents.

They should just put them in a museum... where they will be safe.

Oh... wait... too soon?

On the news last night, I watched them pulling 5 of those Corvettes out of a sinkhole. Tears, mang, tears. I think the Corvette, despite some of its history and sometimes crappy interiors, is a work of art and a working-man's sports car. To see them go tumbling into a hole in the ground was heartbreaking.

of course, importweenies were probably cheering lustily into their microbrews as it happened! Grrr.

I like how you got pissed off at a whole demographic (that I kinda resemble) for something you assumed they were doing.

Despite the fact I drive Honda and drink almost exclusively local and microbrews, its the Pabst drinking Dodge guy in me that is laughing at your pain.
JK

For real though the only crime here is that these super classy old Vettes were sitting in a museum when they should have loving owners that drive them. They're cars. Not paintings. If they were treated as such, this bullshit wouldn't have happened.

I'll just say that there's probably a good reason why there isn't a Cavalier museum.

What I find interesting is that Chrysler used to with its educational donations, they used to make it so you can only drive the car in 1st gear and put in a governor that limits you to like 10 MPH.

Quick fix with a scan tool.

And most Chrysler transmissions won't come out of 1st after a few years anyhow.
