My mom had a 89 Tempo. Manual windows and power locks. Plus I seem to remember the strangler seatbelts. It was a shit car.

I forgot about strangler belts. We didn't get them in Canada... with the exception of Saturn shit. Always fun when you're hanging your head out the window to pull a car onto the alignment rack.

3.0L V6 in the Taurus/Sable were like that... Run for 20 minutes at full throttle with no coolant? No problem. Baja around a logging header with the oil pan smashed in? Don't make me laugh! Roll over six times down an embankment, baja through the trees and back on to the road to be driven 70 miles? We can do that. The 2.5L in the Taurus was just a punched out version of the 2.3L in the Tempo and do you know where that engine came from? Ford took the old 3.3L/200cid I6, lopped two cylinders off and added an aluminum cylinder head. TahDah!

the GM passive seat belts were a dumb design too... let's put the seatbelts in the doors that way if there is a massive side impact and the door opens, you can fly out of the car! (facepalm)
it seems like back then, everyone was trying to either delay airbags or get out of installing them in their cars.

Posted by Samurai there was a kid on this forum, the UER one, not the Car, that was a Tempo FANATIC. I insulted the car commenting on a picture in the UEDB and he went rabidly insane! (it was kind of fun). I wish I could remember where the picture series was... It was in Ontario somewhere, but that's all I remember. Ten years is a long time to be on a forum. As an aside, my brother owned a 92 or 93 Topaz and to be honest, it was a fucking piece of shit. The temperature would drop below 15F and it wouldn't start without pulling the spark plugs out. The front had parts that I am pretty sure were from a tinkertoy set. The automatic transmission was a spastic waste of aluminum and the seats were as comfortable as a park bench. This was not a great car for Ford and the Contour/Mystique (or Condom/Mistake) that replaced was just as bad if not worse.

I still laugh when they re-desined it in the 90s they forgot to do the 2 door, the 2 door retained the old body and the 4 door got the new body

The paint is already falling off and the bondo is puffing out violently.
