These photos were taken in early August of 2013. This plant used to produce telecom gear, such as coaxial and later fiber-optic cable. Parts of the facility are rented out and still in use.
Some of the outbuildings had roofs easily accessible by external ladder, albeit without any building entrances on said roofs.
There were a number of covered and uncovered vats around the outbuildings.
One of the outbuildings contained this control panel...
...and this lab, apparently used for monitoring water quality. There was a logbook with recent entries.
There were also these rather disconcerting gauges.
And a reassuring, trustworthy one.
Despite no evidence of an active blower, I was in no hurry to enter.
Safety first.
This impressive structure connected the main complex with god-knows-what underground.
All completely safe, I'm sure.
The main complex is divided into office and manufacturing spaces. Here is (part of) one of the office floors.
Cubicle partitions were still visible in the floor.
Other sections provided hints of what the ceiling had looked like.
Warning: Invisible rays of eye destruction.
Presumably offices for managers.
We were clearly not the first ones to come through.
As an aside, the stairwells are very modern and smooth, yet solid and reassuring.
Part of the manufacturing floor. It's hard to describe how massive this place is.
Really, really massive.
With really big elevators.
And projectors.
And this old terminal I guess.
