There's 2 VW dealers and 1 Audi dealer here. Audi of Halifax, Hillcrest VW and Steele VW. Audi was of absolutely ZERO help, same with Hillcrest. "Oh sorry we don't sell tools" BS. The special tool number is T10070. It's a 10mm 6 point polydrive bit. Audi and Hillcrest were telling me the tool wasn't even fishing in their system. FUCK YOU BOTH.

Steele VW, which is actually where my boyfriend bought his GTI from, offered to order the tool for me from their local supplier. This was on Tuesday. I paid an extra 10$ to have it the following day, which never happened. Package shows up Thursday, but their supplier sent the wrong one, he sent the 10mm triple square bit. The parts guy felt bad (he does a lot of his own work, he was VERY helpful), so he actually got one of their mechanics to lend me his personal tool, until mine shows up, hopefully next Monday. I'm glad we bought the car from them, cause I'm trying to resist torching down the other one.

How the fuck is it that one dealer was like "yeah, sure, no prob, I can order that for you" meanwhile the 2 other ones were like "we have no idea what tool you're talking about, and we don't sell tools anyway". Last I checked, all 3 use ETKA.

Bandi??? I seriously am considering NOT buying another VW product.

Ugh- I hate what bad dealerships do. The closest VW dealership to the one I work at is just fucking awful, I've heard (sometimes first hand as my girlfriend worked there for 3 months) some things that are so bad it sounds made up. I'd say 50% of our customers come from there because they refuse to deal with the people. They do, however, have some great technicians.

A good example is how we're $210 cheaper for a DSG transmission service, plus "Other" VW is telling customers it takes 2.5 hours. (It doesn't.)

The civic's in the body shop. It's a $6600 repair that luckily the insurance is covering, besides the deductible. The shop's been pretty cool and is sending pictures of the progress so far. The airbags didn't go. Apparently all the smoke was from a seatbelt tensioner. Bent rad support, bent engine cradle, but that's about it. Frame rails are just fine. All new OEM parts have already arrived at the shop, so with some luck, I'll have it back by the end of the month.

I'd never buy a new Jetta. It's become a boring shitbox "a-la" Corolla.

Hey, I like my Jetta! And it's far from a shitbox. Boring? Sure. But also classy.

Also, I guess I'm joining the broken car club. Big chunk of something fell out of the back of a truck (looked like dirt or something) and put a 2' crack in the windshield. Not nearly as bad as others in this thread, but the deductible still hurts.

Glad to hear your car is getting fixed budda. All in all, only $6600 worth of damage, considering what happened, is pretty good.

your glass coverage has a deductible? weird. I go through state farm, no glass deductible.
I do have a $500 deductible on comprehensive claims but most shops here can wash it out of the bill easy enough.

Yup. The crack is large enough (based on limited internet searching) the whole windshield will need replaced. No idea what that costs, but I assume it's expensive because VW. It's also got some sort of fancy rain sensor or something in it. That would explain why my wipers have a mind of their own in the rain/snow.

I didn't mean that the Jetta is shitty, it's not, and neither is the Corolla. I just feel like it lost a lot of the "soul" that previous generation Jetta's had. It's bland, boring, generic, like the Corolla.

I'm pretty impressed with the changes they've made on the 2014s- they're available with independent rear suspension (not just on the GLI), they have squishy dashboards and a new 1.8 turbo that seems to be a very smooth, gutsy little engine.

Sadly, mine is a 2013.

The hard, cheap plastics don't bother me much. They feel less cheap than what I'm used to (2001 and earlier American plastics). Suspension is way better than any car I've owned (except my Mustang...but that's a whole different breed). But I will admit, I hate the 2.5 I5. I would've waited for a 2014 if I didn't feel like my Ponticrap was on the verge of being a money pit.

I want to try a 2.5 with an aftermarket intake and a better exhaust. I think it'd probably sound glorious.

Had another one in the ditch last week. This time my son:

That's #2 son in the background, and my house in the further background. Yeah, he went into the ditch about 100 yards from my house. He's getting new tires this week.
