Weird, I replied to this thread this morning but my post is gone.

Anyhow, I was there in '06, '07 and '08. Awesome rally, very odd little town.

This guy was FAST. I've never seen a rally Mustang before, and there were two at this event. There was also an early 4 door Saturn, a Jeep Commanche and a Citation X11. Refreshing from the usual Subie/Mitsu saturation.

And there was an aircooled Beetle running in '07. (Oh, as well as a Porsche 911 but I was crewing for that one!)

Hey, I see Andrew in that last photo! (I was his crew chief for 2 years)- he just started driving for Ford after a stint with Scion- it was all Mitsubishi when I was in the scene.

I've met him a few times. He's as stupid as he seems in interviews.

"I don't get scared, cuz that'd just suck."

Citation X11.

you sent me pictures of that one... I had sent Bandi a couple of queries a year or so ago about campaigning a Cavalier in the nearly stock classes... why not? Disposable car, reasonable power to weight ration, bulletproof drivetrain, easy to get parts for, easy to repair, and some powertrain performance support. The downside is on the suspension side of things... where the hell would one find a suitable suspension for it? It would be fun, though... well about as fun as an FWD can be in a rally.

Look up a company called "HotBits". They can make up suspension for ANYTHING. And fairly reasonably.

I've co-driven a rally in a Cavalier.

Sam, its not always about the win/loss or standings

sometimes its just about tearing up that dirt road and raising hell on the turns, and maybe getting air at the top of a good crest
