We've seen lots of great photos from this place over the years. These ones tell us it's still accessible, which many will find of interest.

It is still accessible...you just need to know the way...however, on my last scout I can say they now have work crews during the day, and they do drive around in pick up trucks.

Last year at Doors Open, I was talking to one of the technologists at the Portlands Energy Centre. The switchyard behind the Hearn is still running on (almost) original equipment (heavy oil-based). I'd guess the work crews are there to replace the switchgear with gas-based breakers. Shouldn't take more than a few months, I'd guess.

They'd probably finish by about June, since PEC is a peak generation plant, and they'd definitely want to have it operational for the summer months.

The guys I watched work were working on the buildings nestled up to the sea wall area.. looks like they might be prepping them for demo but don't quote me on that.

Interesting. When I was there last summer, I didn't see anything worth repairing back there. Judging by the length of pipe in those little buildings, I would guess they were pumps for the steam turbines? Could still be wireline work? I know there's a transmission tower back there.
