Sorry Sam.

http://www.foxnews...-used-cars-to-buy/

first off, i put about ZERO stock in Consumer Reports. You know that. Second of all, the Cruze 1.8L is the LS trim which is a stripped down entry level car. Why would anyone buy that when they can get the 1.4L model for just a little bit more. The 1.8L is one of those european Ecotecs that made it over here in the Saturn Astra before Saturn was folded up. It worked great in the European environment but just wasn't all that much swell or fun here.

I agree they are all about value, but i trust them more than popular mechanics... they have never tested a bad car (they get em free for the "long term test" fleet)

That's something striking about the list, but like I pointed out, it isn't a scientific survey. Consumer Reports' readership, just a small segment of the population who may not represent the average person's experience, could be biased against domestics.

I read (Car and Driver maybe?) that there's kind of an issue gauging reliability anymore. I guess infotainment systems are dragging down certain brands reliability (Ford Sync for example). There's really nothing that differentiates whether a driver is left along side the road or just can't get his bluetooth to sync.

it's like the Cruze. My 1LT has the normal one color display. Yawn. My friend Jeremy has the Cruze Eco with the nice display with all the bells & whistles. To me, that shit is terribly distracting. I had a Chrysler 200 last fall for a loaner while I was having the last part of the warranty paint work done, and it had the infotainment shit in it and no matter how much I dimmed the screen, it still seemed to bright. Also, the mechanics of just navigating through the memory stick for saved music was a fucking nightmare, especially at 65mph.

My issue is that Consumer Reports is known for cherry picking their reviews by only asking buyers in certain demographics than just an across the board sample of buyers. They apply their in house testing methods which works great on appliances and whatnot, but isn't representative of what people do with cars; for that I look up the boys at Motor Week.

Motor Week is pretty good with their real world tests. Always have been.
