I thought I would take a minute to introduce myself and give a bit of background.

I go by Abby Normal on this forum, other names on other forums and in real life...

I've been exploring for about 5 or 6 years now. I started with pretty simple mines and have progressed into more challenging ones. Along the line I have added vertical exploration as well. I did some climbing earlier in life but hadn't done any in years. Serious mine exploring pretty well requires rope work so I refreshed my skills and repurchased all my gear.

Most of my exploring has been in the desert southwest, although I did travel to England a couple of years ago to explore some of the mines there. It was a truly amazing trip, including an underground zip line across a flooded stope, crossings over flooded stopes where the "bridge" was nothing but a piece of rail, a rappel into a boat for another water crossing. Seriously fun stuff.

I'm always open for some underground exploring. If you are planning on a trip to Vegas, give me some lead time and if my calendar is clear we can meet up.

Cheers!

Abby Normal

My first "exploration" was underground, albeit a subway tunnel. I've always had a fascination with caves, and once I started exploring abandoned buildings mines were just a natural progression.

Most of the stuff we have around here in Ontario (and by "around here", I mean 8-12 hours away) is flooded, capped, or otherwise inaccessible, but there are a few hidden gems. I'm also an avid diver and am working towards my cave certification so that I can start diving some of these flooded workings.
