Had a discussion today w/my class about art that makes us uncomfortable and how interpretation of that art takes away some of it's power to do so. This statue makes me uncomfortable because it shows the Devil w/children, exactly what the religious hierarchy would want children to think of when they think about Satan; i.e. don't think he isn't paying attention, children, he's coming for you.

From my understanding of Satanism, which is just based on what I've read in LaVey's Satanic Bible, I don't think that the monument is trying to convey the message that Satan is coming for children. I think that it's trying to show that the philosophy that Satan represents isn't one of evil, but on of tolerance, acceptance, and indulgence. All of which are child friendly.
