wifes car was making a funny knock, took it to the dealer, on warranty. Turns out 2 bearing caps in the bottom end are loose, going to cost KIA an entire short block, they are replacing everything from the head gasket down.

dealer tried, as replaceing the entire engine is less work for them, but KIA made em keep the head. when i asked what the engine guy at the dealer drives for fun he said "2001 pontiac grand prix gtp" its odd, everyone working there drives a GM, even the owners lol

I know of a KIA salesmen here; he oddly drives a Crown Vic! He also gave me interesting advice when buying any new car; ask the salesmen if you can see what cars are in the service department. Any decent salesmen with confidence would show you; if they don't its because they are afraid of something!

this dealer like i said, used to be my pontiac buick dealer, ive bought 4 cars from them and they have always treated me right. One thing i like about them is in the showroom a massive arrow saying "visit our service dept" pointing to the garage.

Ive always loved a dealer that does that, as well its nice that there is a guy in the place whoes name is on the sign in this day of mega dealers!

one thing that is cool, they are in an old toyota dealer. they didnt need the body shop so they engine guy does his rebuilds in the paint booth, says its clean and well lit.

got a call from the dealer, certain parts still havnt come in, after a week and a half, he told me if they come in today they can have the engine guy do overtime this afternoon. I said no thanks (garage closes at noon fridays) and i would rather him not be rushed to get it done...

well went and checked on the car, still havnt recieved the block. As i walk into the showroom i saw somthing i never thought i would ever see in a kia dealer... a 1984 pontiac sunbird and a 1984 pontiac firebird in the showroom. Owner of the dealer was able to track down the first two cars they sold in 1984 when they bought the dealer, had em both restored!

I didn't mean like that- I approve of restoring any old car. But a lot of people would definitely have a laugh over it. I have a friend with an '86 Aries that had a ground-up restoration.

When I was in college we ended up with a 2000 Impala that was built entirely out of blemished parts at the Oshawa plant. I guess that idea got shut down pretty quickly.
