Hi everyone! My name is Daniel and i'm actually pretty experienced (3 years and 50 + buildings explored) in the art of urbexing and i've used this site for reference for quite some time. However one thing i have NOT done is contributed to this website in any way shape or form. iv'e just leeched off the free locations to find and explore, but for the most part my success has been from finding places on my own to explore, since i can't see any of the super secret member locations on here.

So... before i go on, a little more about myself.

I've always had a fascination with abandoned buildings since highschool, when some friends invited me to come with them to "the clubhouse" which was basically an abandoned small hotel in greenville where all the highschool kids went to smoke pot. I just wanted to see the building so i tagged along, and in my eagerness, naiveness, and a wanting to show off my parkour skills (lol) jumped onto the neighboring buildings roof and made a loud thump which caused the tenants to come out and threaten to call the police.

Since then i've learned a lot.

I have gained a respect and admiration for these old abandoned marks of time, and i am an avid photographer (with no camera... I leech off my girlfriends dslr for that ) I have a flickr account with a lot of my urbex photography if anyone would like to check it out. (not sure if i can post a link?)

I'm also skilled in the art of lockpicking, and have used it to access countless locations. Padlocks are shimmering trophies of challenge, which i love the sight of. I even lock them back up when i leave! (curteous right?)

I love the standards of the urbexing community and adhere to the "leave nothing but footsteps and take nothing but photos" philosophy. I HATE the destruction of property, and never use any entrance that would cause damage. I love these solemn places and adore the atmosphere.

My girlfriend is usually my companion in all my adventures (seriously no better way to avoid suspicion while lock picking a door on the street, then making out with your girl when cops roll by) but has recently moved to AZ and picked up her own adventures there. So right now im partnerless haha (any good kissers here? )

So now to the point of this post really. I'm not that great with the whle forum scene and keeping up with posts and stuff, but i would love to contribute and also... gain that membership access to hidden locations. So here is my question...

Is it worth it? i know it takes some dedication to the community to get it, and its not that i'm not social or anything, quite the contrary, it's just i'm no good with keeping up online. also are there really a bunch of hidden locations (texas) i can't see? I'm getting to a point where personal scouting and google search is running dry with places to visit. So I need some help finding new places. Also i would love to find some people to go exploring with!

Sorry for the long post guys but just had a lot to say also is this the right place to post this? should i repost in the main forum? anyways thanks guys!!!

ps.. oh and here is a few photos!

Welp, since nobody else is posting I guess I'll start by saying "hello, welcome to UER!" Just post and stay active and you shouldn't have any trouble getting full membership. Also, check out the faq, it's pretty useful.

Full membership isn't what you think it'll be. I think most of us started out hoping full membership had a mass amount of super cool/secret locations that nobody knows of but it's not. The locations listed in the database are decently known but you will find a few that you wouldn't have found otherwise. Full membership just lets you see a few more locations, a few private threads and the "Full Member" icon under your name. BUT, in the process of becoming a full member you will have hopefully posted and contributed to the site, possibly meeting up with folks from here or gotten some good tips. In the end what you gained through that process will be worth more than the full membership and full membership will be more of a "bonus."

Is this a joke? Is this even real? What the fuck, come explore in the great lakes section. Who cares about the hidden locations, not worth worrying about. You got the right idea, keep doing what you're doing. Contribute when you think its appropriate and you want to, if you don't want to, don't. Welcome dude!

Don't worry about Full Membership. At all.

And I wouldn't recommend talking up your lcokpicking skills in a public thread.

Sands nailed it on the head.

Try to stay active on the boards and I find it helps to stay up to date on locations, explorers, etc.
The DB really isn't the best, but you probably will find a few places you didn't know about. But the people you meet once you gain some trust is worth it. I've gotten to meet up with some pretty cool people and see some awesome locations. The sharing aspect of being active here is worth it.

Also, private threads will become visible to you, which can be good.

Welcome!

PS, I really like your first picture.

And sure, you can post your flickr link up so we can check out some more of your work.
